A Day at the Amphitheatre!
--------------------------------------
Seemed to be just another day in Gridania, the city was teeming with life. Of various people who stopped by the Ampitheatre, a male Elezen was sat on one of the pews, early to some kind of gathering. He hadn't known there would be a show today, but now that he knew, He was going to stay and watch. It'd been some time since he'd been in the city, so it seemed no one recongized him... It didn't help that his skin was sunkissed from hours in the forest sun, making his living off the land. For the time being, he sat, reading a book to pass the time.

Kallera - 12/07/2016
Kallera was waiting by the amphitheatre, as a miqote had started talking to the calamity salvager, requesting for the things of a certain someone. It was a request, owing to circumstances, that Kallera couldn't make herself. While her contact made her inquiry to the salvager, Kallera stayed at the amphitheatre? She wondered what sort of show was taking place, at least to make it look like that was what she came for. She had noticed someone reading a book next to her. Something about the book made her try to suss out what the title was.(edited)

Takeshi - 12/08/2016
She might have noticed there were drawings on some pages, of what seemed to be crafting blueprints. He was reading a book on leatherworking, a craft he'd not delved into quite yet. Though, he felt eyes upon him, or maybe his book, and turned dualtoned hues aside, to see who might be watching. An Elezen woman of black and red hair, fair complexion... A sense came over him as she was looked over, that which he recognized. Darkness in one's heart. Some Dark Knights could sense others, he was one of those. A smile parted his lips as he lowered the book, that she might see it.
"Interested? I don't mind sharing." His smile softed as he looked to the book, then back to her. "... My name is Aufoix. And how might I address you, miss?"
Kallera - 12/08/2016
A tingle came over Kallera once she got caught...it was a leatherworking book, liked like a primer the guild hands out to people trying their hand at it. Aufoix...For aomeone who had looked like he worked outside trapping he seemed formal, well more so than typical. "Oh, um, I'm Kallera. It's nice to meet you." Maybe he was trying something new! "Picking up a new hobby? You won't regret that one, 'specially with the recent chills these days."
Takeshi - 12/08/2016
A gentle smile showed on his person as he offered a gentle nod. A beuatiful name for a beautiful woman. "The pleasure is mine, Miss Kallera." She then looked back to the book and commented about a new hobby. She got the right of it, that was exactly the plan. "Mm, Observant. Yes, I had hoped to take up a new craft for the upcoming year. It's.. a habit, to learn a craft a year, so that I might some day be able to do a great many things. I would like to put such knowledge forward, to help the less fortunate." He smiled brighter as he spoke, and set the book down in his lap, pulling a sketchbook from his bag. Opening it, she might see blueprints from other professions, mainly Weaver, Armorer and Goldsmith, but the designs on these clothes, armor and accessories were not truly Eorzean in detail. If she had knowledge of Coerthas and Ishgard, she'd easily pick out the inspiration from Ishgaridan Armor and Fashion. There were plans for Elegant gowns and robes for the higher class, and simple clothes that were functional yet warm for the low-born.
These were plans he had made some years ago, when he was still a Knight of the Holy City. "Leatherworking will be the last of the essential crafting jobs I will need to put my schematics into practice. I made this quite some time ago, and as I have learned, I have expanded and re-made them time and time again on a new page. The more I learn, the better my plans are becoming, so much closer to being made real.."

Kallera - 12/09/2016
This was a man of some serious ambition! Kallera looked at some of the piece designs he had. "a craft a year? you must've been at this for quite a while! How did you manage being that...dilligent?" Kallera wanted to say 'rich' but that wasn't here nor there. "I used to be a craftswoman myself, though I found it hard keeping up with the fashions." she said. "Looking at that book, reminds me of the smells and sounds of being hard at work." Was she much different now, several years later? Whether it was her sword arm, or the head knife, her approach was the same, even if her temperment wasn't.(edited)
Takeshi - 12/09/2016
"Yes, hah, I have been... I started several years ago when I was still a Knight in Ishgard. Diligence is a trait the Knights of the Holy City strive to maintain." He was open and honest about his history, not caring to mask why he'd been banished. If she asked, he'd tell. "Ah? Well, I hope that is a good thing, Miss Kallera. Crafting is no easy work, but it pays well to those who persevere and open themselves to learn the trade." He smiled as he spoke, and offered her to look through the sketchbook.
"To be honest, my work isn't Eorzean influenced, which is why it's a bit more popular. People are drawn to the unique and unfamiliar. It's rare to get an insight into the Holy City's culture, especially its fashion and armor..." He shifted in his seat to kick one leg over the other, sitting his hands in his lap. "Though, you've peaked my curiousity.. How did you take to learning here? I've yet to begin, but I have some grasp from my time in Ishgard's guild. I wonder, is it any different?"(edited)
Kallera - 12/09/2016
"Well, assuming they've kept the tradition... If you can hold a head knife in your hands without losing all your clothes, you're in." Kallera gave the smile of a proud graduate having a laugh at an initiate. "You'll have to get used to jests like that at Fen-Yll. The guildmaster lives to poke and prod people into artisans." Kallera couldn't help but look the man up and down at his comment of being a former knight of Ishgard. He had all of his limbs, and likes an honest day's work...Disgraced. She smiled, some things never change. "They've a few customs you'll get acquainted with, but you'll fit right in...you seem like the sort that can see a lot about a person...may I ask something, about your time there? Because you seem about his age..."(edited)
Takeshi - 12/09/2016
"Mm, that sounds appropriate." He smiled at her once more, lightly chuckling himself. He was used to those more experienced having a laugh with the newbies. That's how it always worked in these parts, anyways. Back home? You were drilled rather than openly spoken to. "I'm sure we'll get along just fine then. I appreciate a good sense of humor!" He watched though as she looked him over. He was curious, really, what she thought of him. Then, came her question. Who was this 'he' she spoke of? He gave her a curious glance before crossing his arms to think.
"Well.. I was born into a middle class family. Since I was a babe, I took pride in fighting with sword and shield, I wanted to be a defender.. When I came of age, I soon proved my worth and became a Knight under the Ishgardian forces. That, and they saw my drive to help the commonfolk. I went out of my way to ensure the safety and happiness of the citizens." He then shrugged lightly. "They didn't think I'd steal from nobles to feed and cloth the masses." He smirked at that. "That, and.. I stopped several city-ordered death sentences. I was.. a troublemaker, to say the least." He paused, before sighing. "I was banished almost three years ago, but I didn't arrive in Gridania until about two and a half years ago..."(edited)

Kallera - 12/12/2016
"The name Berrick ring a bell?' He was a chirugeon that had specialized in troublemakers, he had interest in how maladies affect a personality. When I heard from him last, he was planning on writing a book...we haven't kept in touch."
December 13, 2016
Takeshi - 12/13/2016
"Hm..." Aufoix took a moment to think on that while she continued. Then, he remembered. "Ah, actually, yes! I do recall a man whom I got well acquainted with, but now you say his name and I remembered. I do recall him working on something, lots of paper.. but he never mentioned what. I never asked.." He shrugged though. "But Last I saw him was three years and a little more." He then turned to look at Kallera, before seeming to ponder. ". . . I haven't heard news from Ishgard since. I'm afraid I couldn't tell you if he is well or not. I would like to know, myself, but I have accepted my new life here." He closed his skechbook and put it aside.
"I'd like to think my banishment was for the better. I find myself so much more at home here in Gridania. I've learned much from my adventures, and there is so much yet to discover.." He paused before looking to Kallera. ".. Miss Kallera, I wanted to ask..." He then closed his eyes and crossed his arms, speaking softly for only hear to hear. "I noticed something about you.. Your air is heavy. Tell me, do you walk with shadows? Does Darkness beckon with a whisper?"
Kallera - 12/13/2016
It sounded like Berrick, that would have been when he was putting his research together with his confidants. Aufoix wasn't one, although it looks like he wasn't around long enough in Ishgard to lean either way on the matter...
The din of the growing crowd fell away to his voice, as Aufoix gave voice to his suspicions. Kallera looked at him surprised. _Shite! he could sense that?! Oh...Oh Godsdamnit!!! I might as well be goading a boar with me bloody skirt!_ She covered her mouth and gave a forced cough. She looked at Aufoix, time to be subtle...
"Hahaha! My, aren't we forward! Well I for one am seeing more of a golden brown beckoning me at the moment. Course...it depends on who's asking. And you, Wildrice, might need a two-liner to go with that one."(edited)
Takeshi - 12/13/2016
Aha, he figured she'd cover it up. He deigned a snirk before shrugging. "Ah, no matter, my lady..." He then looked ahead, before sighing. He pulled out his sketchbook and on a clean page, he began to write. He still wished to communicate, but with the crowd growing now, it would have to be kept subtle.
You seem surprised.. I've been a Dark Knight for years now. I know when I am the same company. Tell me, what did you think of me, then? Could you tell my position? I would think my banishment from Ishgard would have given it away..
December 14, 2016
Kallera - 12/14/2016
Kallera was offered the sketchbook to read, and a pencil to write. She blushed. This was...pretty ingenious, while still being a little intimate. she wrote her response in a smaller looking text.
I had my hunch at 'being a troublemaker'. It's why I had mentioned Berrick. She put the pencil on her chin for a moment, before resuming to write. >>
Sometimes a whisper, sometimes a touch, I've come to accept it, but I've been alone for a while. What was it like for you?
Takeshi - 12/14/2016
Given the book back, he read her response, then, smiled softly. He seemed to fall into thought, before beginning to write. The expression on his face was something mixed with longing and regret. She might notice this, if she looked at his lowered face.
I was more than a troublemaker. I caused a lot of problems and eventually fell. Ishgard didn't know I fell to darkness. It's better that way. If they found out, they would have killed me then and there. He paused, before then sighed. For me, it is antagonizing, though in what I think is a good manner. It sees the injustice and suffering of this world, and wishes to right the wrongs, rather than go for blood. Rather than walk away from someone less fortunate, it nags me, wishes me to do something good for strangers. When I see someone in trouble, I am spoken to with a clear voice, something dripping in vemon... It tells me, that I need to do my part, that it is my job to protect. I tend to defend without a second thought anyways, of my own free will and desire to be a guardian to the helpless, but when I hesitate, the shadows tell me. He then moved to the next line with a frown. >>
. . . It was hard. Many Dark Knights I've met have said conquering was easy. I think they're full of chocobo shite. It wasn't easy for me which is why I got in so much trouble. Berrick.. was a good person when I knew him. He kept trying to urge me to stop causing problems, and avoid drawing attention. That was the most difficult part for me. The overwhelming urge to tell the nobles to piss on their graves and demand they help the poor, like those in the Brume. People starving, freezing, children crying, poor souls being harrased.. I spent a lot of my time down in the Brume, making friends and sharing the things I stole with them. I oftne would make thigns for them too, like food and clothes. I'd like to think that maybe someday they'll talk about me when the children are grown up, and they'll silently thank me for my selfless sacrifices... It's a dream, but I'd like to think I did my part. He then looked up momentarily before finishing.
. . . I had a student, once. Perhaps I wasn't the greatest of teachers, but by being in the company of another Knight, someone whose darkside was profoundly different, I learned a great many things... Most of all, I discovered things about myself I never knew. It truly helped me as a person open up and realize that despite my issues, I still am a person, a human being with a good heart, willing to give their fortune to those who can make use of it.. I can't help but wonder where my student is. It makes me sad to think of him, a young, fragile thing... He offered the book back with a solemn expression.
Kisumi - 12/14/2016
It was heartwarming and nostalgic to be back "home" again. Gridania was where it all began for her. Crossing the sea and finding Carline Canopy... things were so much simpler back then.
People had poured into Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre. The outcome was more than she had expected, though it was probably all on Miounne's good word. She had even called in a favor for a former butler to play harpischord for her. Being surrounded by so many people-- forestfolk and adventurers alike-- made her feel strangely safe for the first time in a long time. She would have to show her appreciation by making it a show to talk about.
Kisumi had met back up with all of them now; Takeshi and Kallera in the Shroud, and Codec in the Den. It was time to keep good on the promise she made to make up for her absence; and after being held and praised, she had inspiration abound. She had sent word as soon as the date was set. Her eyes scanned over the crowd for the one she was truly hoping to see as her fingers danced a gentle tune on her harp in preparation.
The sun had set, but the sky hadn't caught up with it. Rose was slowly being consumed by blue. Lavender clouds faded to grey. As her eyes found him, the lanterns and her expression grew bright. It was all because of him that she had the courage to sing at all. She nooded to the pianist and the score opened, her voice soft, heartfelt, and growing.
"If I could begin to be/ Half of what you think of me/ I could do about anything/ I could even learn how to love~
When I see the way you act/ Wondering when I'm coming back/ I could do about anything/ I could even learn how to love/ Like you
I always thought I might be bad/ Now I’m sure that its true/ ‘cause I think you’re so good/ And I’m nothing like you
Look at you go/ I just adore you/ I wish that I knew/What makes you think I'm so special
When I see the way you look/ Shaken by how long it took/ I could do about anything/ I could even learn how to love like you~
Love me like you~"
The roar of applause was something Kisumi wasn't used to. She could hardly believe she deserved it. She bowed out graciously, taking the pianist's arm to escort her away from the crowd. He led her just outside the Amphitheatre gates to greet those who came.
Kallera - 12/14/2016
She read, and as she read the tale of this former knight, she gave a sad smile to him, knowing she should at least return the favor. She turned the page and wrote on its back.
It was a child's voice to me. Telling me to run, to take care of myself first. It wasn't a virtuous voice but, in my fears, I took comfort in it. I ended up being taken in by my mentor, Berrick was his friend, their ruse with the crystal got them their men, but they felt responsible for the dupe, me.
My mentor was a man of jests, amidst cold water and sleepless nights I was shaken from the voice, until I started to pull from it myself. He taught me what had happened, trained me, and on paper I took to it. The details drove us apart. >>(edited)
Kallera then started hearing Kisumi's voice, she looked up and saw her on stage, giving a spectacular performance singing. She really had a talent for this! Kallera set the sketchbook aside to join in the standing ovation when it was over. When she turned, the sketchbook was back in Aufoix's hands.(edited)

Takeshi - 12/15/2016
He'd taken up the book to read what was writen in return, not paying much mind to the now ongoing performance for the first few moments. It was hard to read, it reminded him of how him and his student had seperated.. A fight gotten violent, and then, he had left them in the middle of the night. Despite how close they'd been, Aufoix couldn't bring himself to stay with the young miqo'te anymore, afraid of hurting them in his anger and frustrations. It was easier that way too, because the miqo'te had his own issues keeping control on the norm. The elezen sighed and shut the book, listening and watching the show now, to ease his rushing mind. The lyrics offered solace, and he soon found himself at peace, embraced in serenity.
Then, it was over. The crowd got to its feet and roared, delighted with what they'd been treated to, Kallera herself had gotten up to join in. Out of respect, he rose as well, but kept the book in both hands low in his hold, with his face a little low. Thsi wasn't how Ishgard held their performances, and so he found himself in a bit of cultural shock, hearing people around him so excited. He didn't know how to respond. As the singer was escorted out, Aufoix rose his dual tone hues to look to Kallera with a soft smile. "... Shall we go speak to her?" He notioned to talk to Kisumi, if Kallera wanted to.(edited)
December 19, 2016
Kallera - 12/19/2016
Kisumi was going to meet the people at the entrance of the Amphitheatre. "Come on! I know her! She'll be thrilled!" Kallera said, taking Aufoix's hand and pulling him along to meet Kisumi. Who'd miss a chance to know the star of a show? Not many, there was a crowd around Kisumi, but eventually Kallera and Aufoix found their way in to see Kisumi greeting people up close.
December 24, 2016
Kisumi - 12/24/2016
The bard blushed. Her auburn hair bounced with her as she leaned forward with theateric appreciation toward the group of guests who congratulated her. "Yes. Xenora Theater in the Eleventh Mist. See you there-- Heeey!" Kisumi's attention magnetized toward the familar face, waving Kallera over. She smirked at the handsome Elezen that accompanied her. "And just where have you been hiding him?" She gave a teasing wink, "I swear, I leave you alone for a day and you're already off with another man. You're going to make our Takeshi cry."
She was talking a mile a minute as if to mask that Kallera had witnessed her performance. A charming ploy, however futile. It had only been a few days since their time in the Shroud. Mentioning their troubled comrade reminded her of her preparations. Her gold-laced hand gave a small wave that begged for more attention; her tone suddenly hushed, "Ah, speaking of which, I've checked out the Den recently, and I'm ready to start our training whenever. That is, unless you have a different idea."
Takeshi - 12/24/2016
Ah, he needn't ask. Kallera was quick to take his hand in her own and guide him along. If someone asked, he couldn't lie, it made his heart race, but he found a smile on his lips as he followed along. "Oh? Well, then by all means!" He smiled more as he responded, and soon, they found themselves upon the young woman. Her eagerness to see Miss Kallera made him smile more, it was good to see people happy... Then, the young women smirked at him, practically flirting. Aufoix laughed some, shutting his eyes for just a moment as his rigth hand rose to pull some bangs aside. His frown was tempted to fade as she mentioned the name of another of their friends. How.. Where had his student been all this time? How had they coped with his absence? He was terribly tempted to know, but... He couldn't deign to ask. He pulled his sketchbook from his side and flipped through it, stopping when he found a drawing of a young male miqo'te, shaded with charcoal, in clothes that... really didn't belong in Eorzea. A 3/4th sleeve shirt with an open V neck, short hair barely chopped and kept, long pants (ideally black) covered most of him, but they were torn up badly, as well as his shirt. They had twin blades in sheaths at their side, face turned aside as the male was gripping at the center of their chest, clinging to the cloth of his shirt.. His expression had eyes downturned, seeming conflicted. >>
Around the miqo'te's neck, a sinew-based necklace had worked a spikey stone against his neck, like a choker... If Kallera saw it, they might have been able to deign it was a Dark Knight's Soul stone. They may even make the connection of their mutual 'friend', if she was keen enough... The page had doman writing upon the top right, characters reading down top to bottom and moving towards the left. There was some red ink brushed about the page in a traditional doman style, mixed with black, something like the shadows a Dark knight made. ... Aufoix took a moment to look over the drawing and painting mixture, before closing the sketchbook again. For now he was being patient and looked about, letting the two talk.
December 25, 2016
Kallera - 12/25/2016
Kallera started laughing, Takeshi and her...? Oh that was too funny, knowing that he already had eyes for another. She turned to Aufoix, and pointed at Kisumi. Look at this kidder! Aufoix flipped through his book, but Kallera kept chatting with Kisumi, paying no mind. Kasumi then whispered about her preparations in the Wolves Den. The facilities there felt like the best place for the two to go at it safely. "No no, that's wonderful. I just have to finish with..." Aufoix closed the book, and looked in time to catch Kallera's head bob in his direction. She leaned in, "Then I'll be good and ready for our tumblin'. Ah! You have--?" Kallera pointed to her ear, as if she was using a linkpearl. She needed a way to contact her, after all.(edited)
Kisumi - 12/25/2016
Kisumi’s ears perked up at her mention of linkpearls, her eyes tossing up throughtfully as she rummaged through her pocket. "Yes! Here!" When Kisumi hardly knew whom she was restraining in the Shroud, it seemed like an incredible coincidence that Kallera was the one to answer the call. Recalling the instance struck her with worry. "Oh! And um... he may not have yours anymore. I can't remember if I gave it back..." Her ears fell in guilt as she grimaced thoughtfully. Suddenly, her eyes caught that of blue locks that looked as if constantly blessed with light. She made to shift away, but still went to shake the hand of Kallera's new friend. He seemed nice enough, however shy, escaping into this book like that. "Well it was nice meeting you, Mister..." Her words trailed off for his answer.
Takeshi - 12/25/2016
"Aufoix, m'lady." The elezen had caught Kisumi coming his way, and he offered her a strong, warm smile as he shook her hand. "My apologies for not speaking much, I figured you and Miss Kallera had something important to speak of. I must say, your performance was absolutely stunning." He smiled a bit more as he let go and proceeded to bow to her in a noble, elegant fashion. "The pleasure was mine." Now he stood upright and rest a hand to his chest, over his heart. "It's not every day that I am blessed with such fine women's company." he's such a flirt.
December 26, 2016
Kallera - 12/26/2016
A slight giggle escaped Kallera's lips as she covered her mouth. Kisumi was off to meet the other attendees leaving the two alone. "Aufoix...I have 2 more questions, If you've the time." She looked at the closed sketchbook, and was starting to like the intimacy of writing to someone.(edited)
Takeshi - 12/26/2016
Hearing Kallera's comment, he smiled softly and nodded. "Sure, I don't mind. I've nothing to attend to, for the time being." He then noticed her gaze fell to the sketchbook in his hand against his side and pondered. "What would you like to ask, Miss Kallera?"
Kallera - 12/26/2016
Kallera chose her words carefully, to protect the innocent. "I've met someone who still learning...he's been without a teacher, and more and more I've been in the role of teaching him how to control himself. He looks up to me. I started this road working on my own strength; but I'd like to do right by him too...How does one become an instructor?"
December 31, 2016
Takeshi - 12/31/2016
Hm.. It was a very serious question, one he had to take into consideration. A hand was brought to his lips as the Elezen man pondered, before sighing. "To be honest, you don't really choose to become an instructor most times. There will be times that responsibility falls upon you to teach someone, and truly, everyone is different in their methods. When I was teaching my student, I wasn't perhaps a teacher more than I was a father figure. I taught them through patience and repetition, giving them someone they could trust, and look up to. Someone they could protect and want to make proud. Motivation from someone else is one thing, but self-reason is another, and is much more powerful. Perhaps your best choice of action, miss Kallera, will be to find how your student's mind works, and see about finding a deeper meaning for them... Help them find a method to the madness, a reason for them to keep learning."
He smiled then and let his hand fall to his side. "Given, that they are open to your guidance, that is. Some students are tough, and are wont to shut people out. If thats the case, you'll have to earn their trust, prove to them you want to help instead of hinder."(edited)

Kallera - 01/03/2017
Kallera thought about Aufoix's words. This sounds like a tall order, but I have to at least try it. "Thank you...This sounds hard, given the subject, but I'll keep trying. I was going to ask about contacting you, but given what you said... Well, hopefully we can see other again in Gridania. Good day to you." With that, she bowed and started to take her leave.
