(Talian Ostrider) Talian stood there, sword drawn, ready to get started. However, when he heard Nat say to just go ahead and train without her, he shook his head. “Nonsense,” He told her, “You’re joining us as well.” He walked over to his bag, reached in, and produced a sword.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “It’s nothing fancy, but it’ll be good for training purposes.” He said, handing the sword over to her. “I know you said you’re not much for blades, but all they are simply extensions of one’s own arm. You’ll pick up on it in no time.” He flashed a large smile before turning back to Alex. “Welp, what’s first then?” He asked her, getting back in training mode. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex smiled as Talian handed Natalia the sword. "Aye, and it be shame for ya not to try and wield it! A skilled brawler like ya will picks it up in no time ya will!" Alex returned her attention to Talian, giving a fantastic, bombatic grin. She was weiling a claymore, not the standard faire of a paladin, but perfect for her prefered style of fighting. "Well, ya gots to let teh sword flow though ya hands like water! when go for the halfsword stance, ya canna' let it slip or slide! >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex swung at Talian a couple times, each strike esily blockaable, but after each block teh effrortlessly swung the sword to hold the blade in her gip and brought the pommel near his head above the block, as if to show this was a way around blocks in one quick motion. "Dinna' let it slip, lest ya end up with canyons for cuts in ya palms! But as ya can sees, not only does it give ya more options as apposed to normal swingin', but it be effective against armor too! A sword for cutting and a >>
(Alexis Mccallister) hammer for bashing! I loves this style I does!" Alex never stopped grinning hte entire time, hoping Talian was enjoying this as much as she was! She was excited to tach another her favorite style and looked forward to learnign spear techniques from Talian! Hopefully Nat would enjoy the sword too! d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat gave Talian a puzzled look, looking to the sword he offered and then back to him once more. "Wha-" He had already placed it in her hand before she could protest, and automatically the hunk of metal felt awkward in her hand. She certainly wasn't expecting that, but what could she do? "If you really think so," She answered awkwardly, feeling suddenly well out of place. Maybe they were right, though. Maybe she'd get used to it pretty quickly. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat weighed the blade in carefully, glancing at the two of them with a hopeless look of direction. "I'll just... watch you first, I think." -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) Watching Alexis and Talian deftly wield their weapons was a truly magnificent sight. They both definitely knew their way around weapons. But, it got A'vette wondering. She was always in the back of the fight when she and Alexis went on jobs. She was perfectly content with supporting her with arrows or succor, but,... she wanted to help her in other ways. Alexis was always her shield, her White Knight. It inspired her. She always kept A'vette safe, and it was time she learned to fight with blade>
(A'vette Rayoh) in hand, beside her beloved. She looked at the pile of weapons next to the trainees. A spare sword lay amongst them. It was settled in her mind. She reached for some spare clothes in her bag, putting them on over her bathing suit. She walked over to the group, taking the sword in her hand. Light, but still strong. A perfect fit. "Bonjour, mes amis! Room for one more?" A'vette wore a confident smile, adjusting her favorite reading glasses. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian blocked the incoming strikes, only to be surprised by Alex’s sudden move to avoid the block. A wide grin overtook him, he loved learning new fighting techniques, so this was truly a fun experience for him. Talian nodded and said, “I think I get it, kinda like this then?” He asked, bringing the sword up with a skyward strike, before placing his open hand on the bottom of the blade and bringing the sword back down on Alexis.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) The strikes were easy enough to block, but Talian was doing his best to emulate Alexis. Just then, a short, sharp pain shot through Tali’s hand. His grip had been wrong, and he had cut his hand. It was nothing to bad, but enough to hurt. Stopping for a second to shake the pain out of his hand, he turned towards A’vette, “Sure thing, join in!” He said, smiling through the pain. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex smiled to Talian. "Aye, that was good form! jsut keep ya grip tight!" Alex wasn't concerned about Talian. Hell, her own palms wre scarred. this was all part of the process of learning this technique! It was a rather dangerous technique, but would offer Talian and any who learned it so many benefits in melee combat. Alex held her sword up and demonstrated the best way to hold it to keep the blade from slipping. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex smiled as Vette walked up and asked to join. She partly wanted to protest, but was also flattered Vette wanted to learn swordsmanship. Alex swung as her, making sure she would be able to easily block it. "Aye, join us! But I ain't gonna holds back! Just as I said to Talian, would be dis-respectful otherwise, me love!" Alex jumped back to her original postition, ready for more practice strikes to come her way. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia was feeling more awkward by the second, trying to focus on both her sword hand and the two who were suddenly swinging their swords at each other. Well, she did say she'd watch for awhile. So watching is what she did. She bent this way and that, even moving certain directions just to see the angles in which they swung their blades. It looked a lot like waving a stick around, if she was being honest. Maybe that's all there was to it? >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat turned to the side a little, waving the sword in her hand with little ease. "You lot all use these things? All you have to do is swing?" -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) "Qui. I wouldn't want you to hold back. 'Twould be an insult. Zough remember, I did spend some time in ze Gladiator's Guild. I may not be a skilled as you both, but I refuse to back down. EN GUARDE!!!" A'vette was fired up, swinging her sword deftly, blocking her love's swing. Her sword was much larger than hers. It would be hard to defend against it with her light sword. But, this was training. A time to learn. Using her nimble legs, she dived at Alexis blade-first, swinging in a horizontal >>
(A'vette Rayoh) arc in front of her, twisting the blade and bringing it upwards for a vertical strike. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smirked at all the training going on, this was a ton of fun. He turned to see Nat toying around with her sword, and he briefly remembered the arm hold she had him in not long ago under the gazebo, the shame he felt, time for revenge.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) With a sinister grin, Talian swung his sword at Nat. “That’s right, all you do is swing, like this! Think fast, Natalia!” He yelled as his sword flew through the air towards Nat’s torso. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alexis blocked A'vetts swing easily, being more skilled at the sword than her, but was not unimpressed. "Ya swings it good, ya do me love! Now..Come at me again, this time find an opening if ya can!" ALex took a full defensive stance, her eyes narrowed on Vette asif watching her very soul. She heard Tali getting Nat into the 'SWING" of things, and chuckled happily. She was aslo hoping to ask Nat later for some hand to hand tips. Alx felt it would compliment her fighiting style. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) She fought like a wild couerl after all, and a couerl needed claws! -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat was at least keen in her senses, and saw Talian's movement in time to at least process the fact that he was aiming for her. Her initial response was to defend with her arms, but she had something in one hand which kept her from properly doing so. Dammit. Why were swords so wonky? Nat grunted at the impact, having blocked with the piece of steel she held in time to defend herself from the brunt of the attack, but it still sent stumbling over her own feet. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) "T-That wasn't a great explanation, Talian!" She yelled, exasperated. Still, she needed to do something that wasn't moping about, so with all her strength, she swung the blade at Tali. -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) nodded, eyes watching her Flame's stance carefully. A solid defensive position, her sword guarding most of her body from harm. Time to pull something she wasn't expecting. The blade she held was light, so she figured she could pull this off. She lifted her blade, twisting it with her palm facing up, pointing directly at her flame, as if she were weilding a rapier. She brought her legs close together, asuming a graceful, duelist-like stance. >>
(A'vette Rayoh) If swings would be ineffective, why not thrusts? A'vette thrusted at her love, searching for any open areas. Her feet shuffled to and fro, constantly changing her position in battle. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian laughed as he deflected her blows. They were sloppy, but strong, but that was to be expected, this was her first time, so Tali would be gentle. “You just got done saying you learn from watching, I’m just letting you watch up close and personal.” He told her with a smile. He continued to swing his sword, blocking her attacks, and trying to drive her back a bit.
(Talian Ostrider) “Keep your footing!” He barked at her, “Fight like you normally would, you are not wielding a weapon, your arm is just longer now! The sword is merely an extension of yourself!” Talian kept the pressure on her, trying to teach her the best way he knew how. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alexis was a first taken aback by A'vettes sudden switch to fencing! She back up until she got a handle on how A'vette was moving. Her sword play was elegent, but the weapon she weilded was not a rapier, and would be easily caught in her crossguard. ALex awaited her opportunity, holding hte sword like a spear, one hand on the hilt and one one the blade >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Once A'vette thrust her weapon again, Alex caught it inthe guard and twisted, hoping to disarm her, the force of the bladeand sudden motion would be tough for A'vette to compensate for Alex hoped! She knew A'vette had pretty good arm strength but this technique was difficult to stop. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Gritting her teeth, she pushed more of her weight forward, tensing her sword arm just like she would tense to guard against any other attack. It sure didn't feel like an extension of her arm, but she could at least guess how that would feel. Nat stumbled back further, her footing all wrong from Talian's constant swinging. Finally, getting fed up, she burried her feet deeper into the sand and brough the sword up, just like she would an uppercut. "Would... you... quit... ordering me... AROUND!"
(Natalia Vhecht) -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) found her sword renched from her hand by Alexis' large blade, the force pulling her body to the ground along with it, along with her dignity. She caught herself with her hands before her face hit the ground. Her glasses fell from her face from the force of her fall, plopping on the wet sand. She looked up, her sword a few yalms away. She stared at the sword a moment, a dejected look on her face. She shook her head, half-smiling. "Sigh... I suppose zis is why you hold ze sword. And I'm in ze >>
(A'vette Rayoh) back. Like a coward." She got up, walking over to the sword and picking it back up. She rose it in the way she was taught in the Guild. "Again." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian grit his teeth as he put his sword down to block the heavy blow coming up at him. It was the best attack she had let loose yet, he was able to block it well, but it did lift him off his feet a bit. “That was a good one.” He said with a smirk, “Because you swung like you normally would. Like I said, swords are just extensions of your own arm.” He swung at her again, a bit heavier this time. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex frowned a wee bit. "A coward? I dinna' wants to 'ear that tolk from ya! A coward dinna seek to better themsleves! A coward Dinna demonstrate a willingness to get up and keep learning! Dinna refer to yourself like that again, me love!" Alex scolded, but them smiled, the determinatino in Vette's face lit her passion to practice even harder! Alex didn't ignore her companions either. "Natalia, if'n it helps, hold id backwards and punch, letting hte blade follow the punch! It be a rather >>
(Alexis Mccallister) unorthadox technique, but I thinks ya might find it to ya fancy!" Alex then looked back to Vette. "Alrigh, this time Imma come at ya!" Alex let our a rather good couerl roar, and charged forth, twriling to add force to her swing! Vette had amaxing footwork, and Alex wanted to test it! --d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Breathing heavily, Nat inhaled and exhaled sharply, adjusting her footing slightly to make up for her large swing attack. She was getting frustrated, but maybe that was the key. At least, the key to hitting harder. "It feels too much like a burden. I could easily just hit you without all this extra weight," She grinned back at him, but she was starting to see his point. Her gaze fell to Alexis beside her, the woman's suggestion making a little more sense to her. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) "Ya might have a good point. Not a bad suggestion at all." She wasn't as close as she normally would be to her opponent, but she could see the benefit to having some space between her and her enemy. If she could just get past the extra weight... maybe swords weren't as useless as she thought. -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) swung to block Alexis' attack, the metal sparking as the blades crossed. The force once again almost knocked the blade out of A'vette's hand. She was losing focus, unable to concentrate from her thoughts. She had to be better. She needed to become stronger. To protect the woman in front of her. To protect her friends. "I'm not going to lose like zis. I'm tired of being in ze back, while you're in harm's way. You've been my shield, defending me and everyone we love. I want to be zere with you. >>
(A'vette Rayoh) At your back, defending your life as you have defended mine. I'll not let you, or anyone else die because I couldn't defend you. I'm going to fight. I'm going to protect ze ones I love. Star, Kisumi, Marstra, and especially you!" She ran at Alexis, swinging deftly as Alexis was recovering from her swing. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talain was already in mid swing when Nat dropped her weapon to talk to Alexis. “Seven Hells!” Tali yelled. At this point he couldn’t stop his swing, so he instead flicked his wrist, hitting Nat in the side of her face with the flat side of his sword. It had been the hardest swing he had done yet, he had pulled back as much as he could when he noticed she was distracted, but he still hit her with most of attack.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “What in the Twelve do you think you’re doing, lowering your guard like that!?” He yelled throwing down his sword and running over to help her up. He was very afraid he had hurt her badly, “Are you okay?!” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alexis fel the power of A'vette's swing hit her blade, nearly forcing it from her hands. She hand to roll with the sword onthe ground to keep it held. She stood up, proud of Vette. "Aye, thats it! find the weakness in the attack! A large waepon is most vunlerable after a swing! Do it again!" Alax saw nat get distracted by her suggestion and had been smacked acrossthe face. Talain was rushing to help her up. Part of her felt bad but she also knwo bruises and cuts were part and parcel >>
(Alexis Mccallister) to the whole process. "Ya gots this Nat! Give it a nother swing! Dinna' back down! Ignite that flame I knows ya carry!" She grinned wryly, letting her focus slip from Vette for jsut a second. "Give 'em one back!" Alex grinned playfully. She was honestly not jsut training, but having a ball with people she considered friends. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) There was something she must have missed. Had she not been looking? Hearing? She didn't know. The last thing she remembered was something hard striking her agains the head, and then she was thrown down into the sand without a second thought. There was a soft ringing in her ears, and for some reason her vision was blurred. Nat shook her head, and as soon as she could see properly, she glanced up at Talian. "Damn... for someone who I threw around earlier, you sure do hit hard," She groaned, >>
(Natalia Vhecht) rubbing her head. When she drew her hand back, she noticed the dark red color on her palm, and she couldn't help but chuckle. Nat could hear Alexis cheering her on, and it kept her grinning, despite the sudden headache she had as she stood to her feet. "Really hard. Thought this was just practice, ya big idiot." -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) This was it. A'vette had found her focus. Alexis' movements were making sense. Her frustrations seemed to disappear. Only the thrill of battle. Two swords locked in a playful struggle. "Have at you, then, ma Flamme! Don't hold back! Soon enoughm you'll be calling me ze Crimson Duelist! Give it all you've got!" This feeling was intoxicating. Exhilirating. And it was only their first day. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian’s worry faded a bit at her playful chastising, but he was still worried. “Yes, it is practice, which means you shouldn’t put your weapon down in the middle of an opponent's swing.” He scolded her a bit while helping her up. “Hhhaaa… come here.” He said motioning to the nearby rocks. He motioned for her to take a seat and he pulled out his Dragoon Soulstone.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “At least let me heal up that wound…” He pleaded. He was clearly upset about what he had done, even if it wasn’t completely his fault. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex was geting tired from A'vettes newfound enthusiasm! After clashing swords for a bit she held up her hand and plnged her claymore into the ground. She guestured to Talian and Nat. "Lets, take us a break, yeah? Alex walked over and sat downd on the rock, sweat dripping form her brow and glistening off her skin. "sorry Nat...I dinna' mean to distract ya! Dinna blame Talian. Twas me fault!" ALex scratched the bacl of her head. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) "Yea, yea, I heard ya the first time. Look, I mean it. I'm fine, really," She groaned, still holding a hand to her head as she followed Talian begrudgingly. Sure, he was concerned, but was it really such a big deal? Weren't you supposed to get torn up in practice? Natalia tried to shrug the thought away, but she could tell Tali was truly worried. Sighing, she moved closer and removed her hand from her head. "I learned my lesson at least, Alexis. Don't apologize. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) I knew better, I'm just... swords are different for me." She glanced over her shoulder towards Alex, offering her a small smile of reassurance before she motioned for Tali to work his magic. -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) was still fired up to practice, but agreed with Alexis. Time for a break. She walked with her to the nearby rock, sitting next to her Flame, scooting closer to her. She looked up at Natalia, whom she was watching out of the corner of her eye periodically. "Oh, zat's right. You're more of a pugilist, qui? I've heard stories of ze Fist of Rhalgar in my travels. Quite ze amazing warriors." She smiled at her Ala Mhigan friend. "I wouldn't worry too much, Natalia. I've used ze bow all my life. A >>
(A'vette Rayoh) sword is an entirely different beast. It takes time. You have a good teacher in Talian, as have I in Alexis. Just keep at it." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian hovered his hands close to the wound on Nat’s head. He would be able to heal the wound no problem, his biggest concern however, was that she may be concussed, and he was afraid what little white magic he had wouldn’t be able fix that. Nonetheless, his hands began to glow white and gold, and the wound began to heal. “Yes, I agree. A break is probably for the best for now.” He said to Alex. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) “After this, A’vettte and Nat can train with each other a bit, since they are a bit closer to each other in sword skill, and A’vette could teach Nat a bit more of the fundementals, having trained in the Gladiator’s Guild for a while and what not. You and I can begin a bit of our Dragoon training if you’d like.” He said this with a smile, and by the time the words and finished, Nat’s wound had sealed. “How are you feeling?”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He asked her with a slight smile, “You going to be able to continue?” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex smiled widely and gave Talian a look of utter happiness. "Aye, I would love that! Excited I be to learn the lance from ya I be!" Alex rested a bit, letting Talian nad ANt take a break as well. It was so far a productive seesion! Everyone seemed to be learning quite alot! Alex was also herself looking forward to learn more about being a warrior! She prided herself on being able to weild anyhing, but she loved recieving instruction. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) "Later Nat, once me an' Talian 'ere are done spear training, could ya teach me to thow a few punches? I couuld use some good fisicuff techniques I could!" -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia waited patiently for Talian to finish, not that she could do much else. Her head hurt worse by the second, or at least it did until she felt that strange white magic he had used on her once before. It was still foreign to her, and she trusted Talian, but man, did it feel odd. Once he was finished, she shook her head gently, happy to have her proper vision back. "Thanks... I think," She replied with a chuckle, teasing him only a little about the wound. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Once that was over, she turned towards the two women behind her and nodded, in complete agreement with the others. "That's probably not a bad idea... as much as I hate to admit it, but this... swordplay is going to take some getting used to." -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) "I'll be honest, I'm no Talian or Alexis, so I'm not sure how well I'll be able to help. I only have a handle on ze basics. And a few zings my mother taught me. She fancied herself a fencer in her youth." A'vette turned to Alexis, taking her hand briefly. "I'm sorry about zouse outbursts I had. I... just want you to be safe. I want all of you to be safe. Just... I'm sorry." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) “It’s nothing fancy, but it’ll be good for training purposes.” He said, handing the sword over to her. “I know you said you’re not much for blades, but all they are simply extensions of one’s own arm.
