(Talian Ostrider) The Coffer & Coffins was as rambunctious as ever. There were only a handful of people in here, but they were THOSE kind of people. Loud, obnoxious, the kind you hate to be around. Talian hated it here, but it was the best place in the middle of the desert to get a drink. He sat at a table with a older gentleman who was quite inebriated.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Tali talked aimlessly with the druken man, as he drank a very bottom shelf ale, but to be honest, every shelf in this place was a bottom shelf. He managed to choke the slog down and went back to talking to the Old Man. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia had managed to keep a low profile within the dusty bar, keeping to herself in the far corner with a bottle in hand. She had finally sobered up for a few hours, only to find herself taking a trip down to her favorite bar in the area. For some reason, it reminded her of home. It was as close as she would get, anyway. Doing her best to moderate her drinking, she took a swig from the bottle and eyed the pair at the table closest to her. But wasn't that.... >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat paused mid-drink, stepping forward with a grumble as she looked at the armor-clad man, swearing she had seen him before. In fact, she had. In her drunken state the night before, she had thrown a random ? towards him in a fit of rage. Oops. "Hey. You. With the fancy armor. I've seen you before, right? I'm not crazy?" -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora had been traveling, for whatever monster was worth a damn. Finding himself in the Coffer and Coffin drinking alittle bit seemed like a little reward. Unfortunatlely things looked to be alittle busy and crazy lively with a feeling of things about to get exciting. He still orders a drinks and observes the crowd.
(Talian Ostrider) Talian looked up from his ale at the Miqo'te addressing him. "Oh yeah!" He exclaimed, "You were at the Quicksand last night, right? You were the one of threw that poor son of a bitch at me right before I clocked him with that chair! Haha! Good times! Sit down, have a drink on me!">>
(Talian Ostrider) He pushed the seat to his right out a bit with his foot. Lastnight had been a ton of fun, between the bar fight and fun excapades in room 302.-d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia stared down at the man a little surprised, keeping her eyes on him even while drinking out of the bottle she held. She glanced at it, shook it a little, then shrugged and decide to take the seat beside him. She moved it further away from him by a few inches, acting just as suspicious as ever, but she felt content with it. "Yea.... yea that would've been me. But it didn't look like it caused you much trouble, afterall. You didn't do half bad, for a man with a blade and all," She replied>>
(Natalia Vhecht) with a wry smile, setting the bottle down on the table as she cracked her soar knuckles. -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora glances over with the female miqote when she raised her voice trying not to over hear with his own ear but chuckles as he misunderstood her for arguing. He got back back for another drink and looks over his hunts and listening to the locals and the particuliar characters across the bar -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian got the Alehouse Wench's attention and got her to pour Nat a drink. "Yes, yes. I would've just stuck with my fist the whole time, but that brutish ruffian had to stab me in the shoulder.">>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian said with a large grin, rubbing his shoulder a bit, "All bets were off at that point. Also, careful with that stuff, everything here tastes like mud." He finished pointing to her cup. "So what brings you here....?" He trailed off waiting for her name. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Her eyes flickered to the shoulder he mentioned, guessing she must have missed that part of the fight. Then again, she had been rather... focused. She watched as the barmaid brought over another tankard for her, and as she lifted the fresh cup up she angled it towards Talian in thanks. "'Preciate it. And you get used to the flavor... after about the sixtieth glass," And as she finished, she took a swig and slammed it down on the table with a relaxing sigh. "And... Oh. It's Natalia. But just>>
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat. The rest of it is really just a mouthful," She replied quickly, although more quietly than before as her eyes shot around the room to glance at anyone nearby who might have heard. "It just happens to be a personal favorite of mine. Has more of a... homey touch to it. Yourself? Needed a less hectic bar to come drink at?" -d-
(Sora Katsumi) SOra over hears and chuckles alittle at the couple and finishes reviewing beofre getting up to get his next bottle. Eyes shiftingas two of the local go outside to have a bar fight so instead of returning to his seat he just decides to stay by the server.
(Talian Ostrider) Talian bowed a bit in his seat, and with a grin said, "The name is Talian Alexander Ostrider. I actually can't really stand this place, but it is the best place for a drink around here. I was just out doing a bit of hunting before I returned home to Ishgard.">>>
(Talian Ostrider) He choked down another gulp of nastiness and burped a bit. "Oh.. my word. Excuse me." He said covering his mouth a bit. "So, tell me about yourself, 'Nat'. Why does a beautiful desert flower like yourself find a place like this, 'homey'?" -d- (Natalia Vhecht) Nat's eyebrow twitched at his last comment, choking even on her drink and causing a rather tasteless display. Once she caught her breathe, she wiped some of the leftover ale from her mouth and glared across the table. "Dont' do that," She stated simply, but with a hint of threat behind it. Once she felt she had gotten her point across, she cleared her throat and set her cup down, motioning to the barmaid to bring her another. So much for keeping the drinking to a minimum. "Ishgard, then? >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Never been. Too cold for my taste, from what I hear. Your type usually keep to themselves, don't they? You came all this way just to hunt?" -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora's ears perk up, thinking to himself "is she talking to me?" Smiling aittle to himself. "Um yeah, the climate is competely different. nothing I've experienced in a long time."
(Codec Icyobi) -: Drinking among the Brass Blades wasn't a rare occurance. In fact. They more or less subsisted on alcohol as a nutrient between jobs.
(Sora Katsumi) >>>he said to her calmly. He orders his 4th battle and keeps distance
(Codec Icyobi) Which was why they were more than happy to discuss, peacefully and not so quietly the merits of ?ing a Roegadyn women. "EH! EH! LEAVE ME SISTAH OUTTA DIS!" The brutish fellow said with a hand pounding upon the table. His friend chuckled stood and waggled his hips suggestively. "EH I LEFT IT IN YOUR SISTER ALL LAST NIGHT!!!!" Which of course is where things went wrong. Violently and terribly wrong. The burly Roegadyn threw his hands up, grasped the table and tossed it to the side. Alas
(Codec Icyobi) for poor Talian and Natalia they were right in the path of the table as it would likely careen into their sitting forms. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian put his hands up a bit in defense. "I'm not nothing by it!" He said to Nat with a bit of a laugh. He then turned to the Miqo'te that had just addressed their table. "I believe she was talking to me." He said to him before turning back to Nat. "Anyways, yes, it is quite.... Look out!">>>
(Talian Ostrider) He exclaimed before shooting out of his chair, summoning his lance, and spearing the table that had been sent flying towards them. He used his spear to stop the table and toss it to the side. "What does a man have to do to drink peacefully for a change!" He yelled at the men rough-housing. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia had turned to address the other strange Miqo'te figure that had spoken to her, ready to ask him why he was so content on hiding behind the pillar, but she was quickly interrupted by Talian's sudden movement. Startled, she stood to her feet so quickly she knocked the chair out from under her, and by the time she noticed the table flying towards them, it was too late. Talian's lance had struck clean through it, and it was already tossed to the side before she could breathe a word. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) She eyed Talian with an expression of sudden respect before the urge to toss something at the loud bystanders overtook her. "Hey, you boys want to keep messin' 'round? GET A LOAD OF THIS!" She shouted, pulling the table up from beside her and tossing it with as much strength as she had towards the other bar patrons. -d-d
(Sora Katsumi) Jumping in suprise, Sora backup but can't resist laughing at the idiots who upsetted her. "such strength," he examined Natalia, "by chance you trained with monks?"
(Sora Katsumi) -d_
(Talian Ostrider) Talian stood there ready to fight, when sudden another table collided with him from behind. He was sent flying towards the ruffians alongside the table. The ruffians, who were busy fighting one another, suddenly turned towards the commotion coming towards them. The Roegadyn stepped foward and caught the table flying towards them as the other thug planted a boot to Talian's airborne figure.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian started to fly back towards Nat until he planted his lance into the floorboards, halting himself, and landing on his feet. The Roegadyn then threw the table out of the way and began to charge Nat as the other thug charged Talian. -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora smirks as he stands with Talian. "stay strong Dragoon, I know your tougher than that." -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat probably would have apologized to Talian if they had been in the right circumstances, but she had been drinking, and it was just funny to watch someone get nailed by a table. So while she stood there giggling over her mess, she had failed to realize that one of the Roegadyn's had begun to charge her. Planting her feet firmly, she tensed and prepared for impact. Lucky for her, the towering figure somehow managed to trip over Talian's spear that was planted in the ground and face-planted >>
(Natalia Vhecht) before he could even reach her. Grinning, she took the chance and slammed her foot down on the top of his head, satisfied with the painful noises that were muffled by the wooden floor. Turning her head over her shoulder, she finally got a good look at the Miqo'te figure behind her and shrugged her shoulders. "Don't know any monks, kid. I only know what I learned on the streets. Try it sometime." Returning to the current state of things, Natalia readied herself to jump at Talian's aggressor >>
(Natalia Vhecht) , should need be. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian lifted his lance from the ground, having just tripped the charging Roegadyn. "Of course!" He said with a grin to the male Miqo'te. Suddenly, the lance vanished, and he raised his hands in a fighting stance, as the second thug approached him ready to strike. The thug swung at Tali's face, but Tali simply stepped back a bit, dodging his fist.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He then wrapped his hands around his assailant's arm and swung him over his head, into the table sitting close by with some adventurers sitting there, Breaking the table with the poor souls body. This however infuriated the adventurers, who jumped to their feet and drew their weapons. -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora sighed with a small smile and ready for defense as he summons his scholar's book helping the innocent by standers and aiding Tatian and Natalia. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat was busy stretching her legs while her new companion trashed the other thug with ease, tossing him aside and startling the group of patrons that had been beside them. They didn't look too pleased. Grinning and rotating her shoulders a few times, she easily stepped to the side as one of them eyed her angrily, motioning with his hand for her to come at him. "You asked for it!" She exclaimed, pulling her fist back and uppercutting the poor sod. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) She wasn't exactly at the right height to get a good angle on him, but the hit landed, and the Roegadyn as cursing loudly as the impact struck him. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) "My apologizes." Talian said to the adventures with a slight bow, but to no avail. The Hyur stepped forward, sword and shield drawn, and swung at Talian. Tali sighed as he dodged the sword, "It really was an accident, but if you insist." He said the last part with a grin. The man swung a few more times, he was well trained, but not well enough.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Tali kept sidestepping the attacks before the man finally attempted to shield bash him. Tali placed a hand on the shield, and flipped over the man, landing behind him. He then swung his leg around, kicking the Hyur's leg out from under him, sending him tumbling to the ground. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) The hulking Roegadyn was rubbing his chin angrily, growling down at the small Miqo'te female. Nat frowned, stepping back just a bit only to run into Sora, forcing herself to adjust to the small space around her. Growling just as loudly back up at the figure, Natalia tried to step around him only to be met with another, much smaller figure, this one being a woman. The two adventurer's stood side-by-side, the woman attempting to catch Nat off guard. She succeeded, for right when Nat moved >>
(Natalia Vhecht) to strike at the taller of the two, she brought her scimitar down and made a clean cut through Nat's flesh. Stumbling backwards in pain, the Miqo'te fighter ground her teeth together and continued on with her snap punch. Her second punch landed much more squarely to the man's face, sending him backwards before his partner could even blink. Scowling, Natalia turned her gaze to the woman, wiping the blood off her arm and flicking it in her direction. "You really didn't want to do that." -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Sora smirks andpoints his gun at the Roegadyn and fires a blank to push the giant back away to give space "sorry big guy, abit to clingy for me." he said sarcasticaly as he slowly walks to him, "now apologize to the lady" The giant man shakes and goes to blind him with flash but unfortunately for him the miqote shot off the sword strap before the giant was about to unsheath it.>>
(Sora Katsumi) "you make it too easy big guy," he chuckled at the now shaking man, "apologize to the nice lady, or she may be the one to wreck you further" The Roedadyn glanced at Nata and gave a pleading bow.
(Sora Katsumi) -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian brought his heel down on the Hyur laying before him. The foot connected with the mans head, but only slightly. Talian then heard his female companion cry out in pain, and turned to face her. He saw that the young female adventure had managed to get a lick in on Nat, and decided to try and step in before anymore bloodshed.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He summoned his lance once more and sent it hurling through the air towards the young female, catching her armor in one of her chainmail rings just above the shoulder, slightly cutting her, and pinning her to the wall behind her. However, this moment of distraction was enough for the Hyur behind Tali to take advantage of, sending his sword slicing through Talian's left shoulder. "SEVEN HELLS, AGAIN!" Talian yelled out in pain, before turning his attention back to the hyur. -d-
(Sora Katsumi) Resummoning his book and taking the look on the dragoon from afar, Sora decided to go ahead and heal up Tali and Nata while keeping an eye on the rest of the bar -d-
{There is a short fast forward here to the end of the fight, with Talian and Natalia finishing off the adventurers, and Sora leaving.}
(Talian Ostrider) Talian was exhausted and gasping for air. He and his female Miqo’te companion had just successfully fought off an entire small bar’s worth of people. No easy feat to be sure, and they were both worse for wear because of it. Talian’s shoulder armor was torn, with a deep crimson liquid oozing from it, similar to how Nat’s right arm looked. Roger, the barkeep, was furious at the chaos in his bar.
(Talian Ostrider) “You two!” He said to Tali and Nat, “Get out of here! You’ve made a mess of the place!” Talian stuck his lance into the floorboard before turning to face Roger. “You know damn well that we didn’t start this!” Talian snapped back at Roger. “Yeah, well you sure as hell finished it! Now get out!” Roger said authoritatively. “Whatever…” Talian said under his breath as he flicked his wrist, making his lance disappear.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Gripping his hurt shoulder, he started to walk out. As he walked by Nat, he motioned for her to follow him out. He was a bit dissapointed, he hated this place, however, it was the best place to get a drink in the middle of this godsforsaken desert, but oh well, he wouldn’t cry over himself to sleep tonight over it. He busted through the double doors on his way outside, and waited for Nat to catch up. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Still feeling the battle high that had come with multiple fights in just a matter of days, Natalia pulled herself up off the ground where she had fallen just after taking care of the last bar patron. Grunting as the pain in her arm grew, she glanced Talian's way, noticing he was almost as wounded as she was. Not like she ever complained about having another scar to tally up, she was impressed how quickly her companion had adjusted to the fight. She was about to speak up to him, but then Roger>>
(Natalia Vhecht) the bartender, demanded they leave. In the right state of mind, she wouldn't have made a fuss about it, but she was aggrivated and certainly didn't want to leave. Gritting her teeth and clutching her bleeding arm, she opened her mouth to speak only to be shushed by Talian as he motioned for her to follow him outside. Grumbling under her breath about 'unfair treatment', she sulked outside. "You're not half bad, y'know. And that weapon you've got... fancy. Where'd ya learn to fight like that? >>
(Natalia Vhecht) Don't think I've seen something quite like that before." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Upon Nat catching up, Tali turned to face her. “I’ve been around.” He answered, not quite losing the grimace he had on his face since he spoke to Roger, “I’ve been a soldier in two separate armies, passed the Dragoon trials, spent two years in the Dravanian Wilderness, and been working as a Hunter ever since getting back. I’ve learned to take care of myself a bit.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) And this weapon is… special. You take pretty care of yourself as well, how about you, what’s your story?” He asked her before noticing and remembering her arm. “Seven Hells. Let me see that.” He said to Nat a bit sternly before reaching for him bleeding arm. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Her eyes widened slightly at his answer, partly due to his straightforwardness and the rest at how impressive it sounded. "That's.... a lot, I will admit. Dravania... near Ishgard?" She asked a little hesitantly, thinking back to all those maps she didn't study. Well, not like it did her much good, anyhow. Pulling her hand away from her wound, she just about answered his last question before he reached for her, causing her to step away for a moment. "Sorry... here," She reluctantly >>
(Natalia Vhecht) raised her arm up for him, wincing at the pain that it caused as she did so. "I've... been around, I suppose. Traveled a lot, mostly in Thanalan. Haven't ventured further than that, really. I've been a part of the Resistance ever since I could remember." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian grabbed her wrist and carefully raised her arm so he could better see the wound. It was a pretty nasty spot, but nothing Talian couldn’t fix his new found white magic. He gripped her wrist with his left hand and placed his right hand hovering slightly above the wound. A beautiful white and gold glow began to emit from his hand, very similar to the glow his lance shared.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Just like that, the wound began to seal, as Talian listened to what Nat had to say. “Indeed.” He answered, “Was born and raised in Ishgard. Spent a lot of time here in Thanalan as well. The Ala Mhigan Resistance?” He asked her. “‘Tis a hard and losing battle those people fight. What connection do you have with them?” As he finished speaking, Nat’s wound fully healed and closed up. Talian let go of her wrist and began doing the same to his shoulder. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat had prepared herself for a needle and thread, if anything, and flinched preemptively. She expected more, but what she got was simply a warmth and a light emitting from Talian's hand. She leaned over just a bit to try and get a better look, but it was gone just as quickly as it appeared, it seemed. "You're handy to have around. A neat little trick. Is that commonly a Dragoon practice? Not that I'm any expert. I thank you regardless," She pulled her arm away and examined it, flexing >>
(Natalia Vhecht) her fingers and her muscles and was amazed at the quick healing. Glancing up at the man, she watched as he began the same process on his own wound. "Was born and raised in Ala Mhigo. I was hardly of age before the Garlen Empire took control. When my brother and I ran, we ended up with the remaining stragglers from our country, and I stayed with them to help make the Resistance." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian’s shoulder was healing up well beneath the glow of his curing spell. He looked up from his shoulder back to Nat to continue their conversation. “No… no… I don’t believe there is a Dragoon in the Ishgardian military that can do what I’m doing. I’m a bit… different. To be honest, it a skill I only recently obtained, but it has already saved my skin more times than I can count.” Talian said before his voice took a somber tone,>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “I’m… sorry to hear about that. I too know loss due to the Garlean Empire, Gods damn them. They claim us savages, yet they almost brought the end times upon us, damned hypocrites.” Talians shoulder was know completely healed for the most part. There was still a small scar there, no doubt due to taking a wound there two nights in a row.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Once it was healed he turned towards a navy blue chocobo tied to the fencing nearby. “We shouldn’t stay here, Roger has probably sent for the Brass Blades at this point. Do you got a ride?” He asked before approaching the chocobo. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Her eyes trailed along to the desert beyond the little bar, the frown steadily growing deeper on her face as she listened to his words. "The Garleans... they are worse than any calamity. They take and take, and they will keep taking until everything is ash beneath their feet. There's nothing I wouldn't do to see them pay for all the suffering they've caused." Natalia hadn't realized how tightly her fists were clenched until she felt her nails digging into her skin, and she shook her head >>
(Natalia Vhecht) noticing Talian had moved towards a stabled chocobo. Nodding her head to motion behind her, she replied, "Afraid I came here on foot. Ul'dah is not far from here, and I've made the journey plenty of times. That one yours? Birds never seemed to really like me much," She added with a hint of annoyance, approaching the two of them slowly. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian put a hand up to rub the chocobo’s face as he spoke, “Ambellina here is the sweetest bird you’ll ever come across. Raised her myself to be a real good girl.” Talian said with a huge grin as he rubbed on the chocobo. Almost like clockwork, Ambellina scooched forward and lowered her head to Nat.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “See what I mean?” Talian chuckled, “Now, you want a ride to Ul’dah? I don’t mind taking you since I’m heading that way as well.” Talian leapt onto Ambellina’s back, and reached his hand out to help her up. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) "Y-You weren't kidding," She stated nervously as the chocobo leaned her head down. She reached out timidly to pat the creature for a brief moment, then backed away as Talian pulled himself up on the bird. "I don't mind walking, but if you're offering, I won't turn ya down. After the tustle we had back in there, I wouldn't mind the rest," Nat grinned and took his hand, though she was still nervous about stepping on the wrong feathers. She only wobbled once >>
(Natalia Vhecht) and finally she settled herself comfortably on the bird's back. "What have you got back in Ul'dah?" -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smiled has he helped lift Nat onto Ambellina’s back. Ambel definitely helped make it a bit easier, lowering her backside to accommodate a second person. She wasn’t to used to it, but she had no problems with it. Once Natalia was seated firmly on the saddle, Ambellina let out a loud, happy, “KWEH!”.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “Hang on tight back there,” Talian said, “This old bird still likes to boogie,” And with that, Ambellina kicked off, making her way towards Ul’dah. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Ambellina strolled into the main gates of Ul’dah, and carried her passangers to the chocobokeep directly in front of the Quicksand. Upon reaching the keep, Talian hopped off of Ambellina’s back and turned to help Nat off as well. He then gave Ambellina another good petting before turning to the Chocobokeep and tossing him a few gil.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “Ah, Ul’ Dah. The City of Gold. I honestly love it here.” Talian said with a smile, taking in the sight of the city. “Well, to the Quicksand then? He asked Nat. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) The ride was... steadier than she had expected, though she certainly was happy to be back on her feet the moment the two stepped off the chocobo's back. She could tell her hair was all out of sorts, what with the wind and all. "Do you? Suppose it's alright. It's been close enough to home as is. Too many cutthroats and money grubbers, though, for my taste," She replied, glancing around at the few citizens around them. "It's got plenty o' heat, though, I'm >>
(Natalia Vhecht) happy enough for that. Suppose your used to the cold, though, right? Ishgard, with all that snow?" Nat shook her hair out, pushing most of it out of her face as she began her way towards the Quicksand. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) “Ha, yeah. It’s a lot warmer than home, that’s for sure. That’s one thing I never really got used to in my thirty plus years living in Ishgard, the cold. Pray don’t misunderstand, I love my home, but blast the cold!” Talian said with a chuckle as the entered through the front entrance of the Quicksand. The bar was slow, due to it being as late as it was. Momodi had gone off duty, and instead some Elezan guy was working the bar instead, if you could call no customers working. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian proceeded to his favorite table, it was off to the side by itself, and there was no one seated there. He pulled a chair out for Nat to sit in before doing so himself. “Hopefully with it being as slow as it is, we won’t have a repeat of last night. I’ll be honest, I think I’m a bit tired of barfights for a bit.” He said with a chuckle. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nodding along in agreement, Nat took the chair he offered against with hesitance, glancing at him for a brief moment before sitting down, mumbling a 'thank you' under her breath. Leaning forward, she sat her elbows on the table and checked around the bar to see if any of those green sash wearing idiots were around. Luckily, they didn't seem to be. "I wouldn't normally agree, but I think you are right. I didn't realize how sore I'd be after two fights in a row like that. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) And usually I'm the one picking them!" Shrugging, she sighed and leaned back in her chair. "There's been... much more fighting than usual, at least on my front. I forgot how nice it is to sit back and see things without violence." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian looked around a bit and nodded, “Yeah. I suppose you’re right. To be honest, fighting is so engrained in my everyday life, that I honestly don’t ever really even think about it. But I suppose it is nice to sit back and relax a bit. In fact…” He trailed off as he looked down at his armor, then suddenly, with a flash, his armor was gone.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Instead, he know wore the same outfit she had seen him in the night before, minus the bloodstain on the shoulder. “Ah, that’s much better.” He said with a sigh of relief, “Would you like a drink on anything, I could use one that doesn’t taste like mud after the night we’ve had.” He asked Nat with a friendly smile. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) She had been listening along casually up until the moment his armor disappeared, and she nearly stood up out of her seat in shock. "H-How did you do that? You're not even wearing the same thing anymore!" Natalia leaned to the side of the table to check underneath, just to ensure she wasn't crazy. "Is that more of your strange Ishgardian magic, then?" She asked once she sat back up, a little dazed. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) She looked around and flagged down a passing barmaid, holding up two fingers, feeling much more satisfied once she had a drink in front of her. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian laughed very hearty laugh at Nat’s reaction to his armor vanishing. “Yeah… I guess you could call it that. It’s the same thing that allows me to use white magic as well, and is also a very, very long story.” He told her as she motioned for the Barwench. “Ishgardian Red Wine for me! There should be a bottle on the top shelf of Miss Momodi’s personal stash!”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He called to the wench as she went to fetch their drinks. “After the week I’ve had, I’ll take the best top shelf I can get.” He smirked, “So, I’ve not been to in the loop recently, what’s new with the Resistance? How goes the fight?” Talian asked in a sincere tone. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia glanced down at her hands, now clasped and wringing together tightly. "I assume you've heard by now the events that transpired at Baelsar's Wall? I... well, I was there. At least from the sidelines. We... the Resistance were prepared to do anything at all to ensure the aid of the city-states in our fight against the Empire. Blindly, we followed our orders... I followed those orders." She paused when the drinks were brought to their table, waiting for the woman to leave >>
(Natalia Vhecht) before she continued. "It's difficult to talk about. Regardless, the Empire delivered a heavy blow to our people. I haven't returned to Little Ala Mhigo since, so I am unsure of the current state of things." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian sighed a bit, “Hhhaaa… it seems you don’t know too much more than I then…” He said slightly defeated. “I hate it that you had to be there for that travesty… Blasted ‘Griffin’.” He spit out the last word with a spiteful snarl. I’ve lost a lot to the Garlean Empire, but I’ve never lost my home. I can’t even pretend to know how that feels.”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) The drinks had just reached their table, so Tali handed the wench a few gil for a tip before scooping up the glass and beginning a drink a bit. He whipped his mouth and continued to speak. “The Garleans came for my family when I was very young. You’d think living in Ishgard, the city that only recently opened their arms to the outside world, would keep us safe, but that wasn’t the case.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) The Garleans had… reasons... to come after us. They took my brother and I, and that was the last time I saw my parents. Kalyn, my brother, and I managed to finally break from their hold, but those couple of years in the Garlemald took a... bit of a toil.” Talian shook his head a bit, almost like he was snapping out of a trance. “Sorry…” He said. “I didn’t mean to start rambling.">>>
(Talian Ostrider) He picked his glass up and started drinking again, going out of his way to avoid eye contact with Nat. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia was too involved with listening to his story that she actually forgot to drink it. It was only until after a long period of silence that she realized he was finished, and that she had been staring at him the entire time. Whipping her head around to look elsewhere, she finally took a long sip of her ale. When she was finished, she sat it down carefully and spoke. "That is... I'm sorry. As I am now, I couldn't imagine actually living in Garlemald. It pains me to even know that my home >>
(Natalia Vhecht) is under their constant watch. But... to be taken there? That's... horrible." She paused, remembering her own family. "There's no need to apologize. I hate that that would happen to anyone. I just... it makes me so angry," Nat stopped again, realizing that her voice was rising. Chewing on the inside of her cheek, she downed the last of her ale and sighed. "There's no need for an apology. The Empire is not a happy subject, it seems, for either party here. Here-" Nat raised her glass >>
(Natalia Vhecht) even if it was empty, and held it out to him. "Of happier things, to new friends. At least that's something the Empire has lead to." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian glanced back at Nat as she held her glass out to him and smirked. He raised his glass and tapped it against hers. “You’re right. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for those sons of bitches, so yeah, here’s to new friends.” He swallowed down the last of his wine and placed the glass on the table.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “So… I know it’s getting late, but I for one am not remotely tired. What else is there to discuss? Something happier of course.” He asked Nat with a smile, he enjoyed her company, and hoped they could come up with something else to discuss. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Grinning, Nat sat her empy tankard on the table and waved down another maid to bring them a few more drinks. "Ishgard, then. Land of dragons and spears and snow. Well, at least nowadays, it seems. What's it like there? I've always surrounded myself with... well, my own, if you know what I mean. Never spent much time asking other people questions, and this seems to be a perfect oppurtunity for it. If ya don't mind, that is," She added quickly, hoping it was at least a happier topic for Talian.
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smiled as he listened to her question, he did enjoy thinking of his home. “Oh yeah!” Talian said, “It’s a beautiful place. White as far one’s eye can see in some places, in others however, not a speck of snow. I witnessed most of what that area had to offer during a time when I was out in the wilderness. The Dravanian Wilderness that surrounds Ishgard is beautiful, spent quite a lot of time there.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) It is where Ambellina comes from as well, she loves the area too. And the Dragons are truly beautiful and majestic, used to hate the creatures, but none can deny their majesty.” Talian seemed to be rambling a bit, so he turned the question around on Nat, “So Ala Mhigo… I’ve never been, but I’ve heard it is a beautiful place as well.” He asked her, hoping not to upset her by bringing Ala Mhigo back up.-d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia chuckled lightly at his rambling, trying to imagine the landscape. It was relatively easy, even with her lack of imagination. Nodding along, she spoke up. "It sounds... interesting? Can't really remember the last time I ever saw snow. I'll take your word for it, though." Once the second round of drinks came along, she began to down her ale. "You know... to be honest, I don't remember much of it. I remember thinking the mountains touched the skies, and wondering if anyone >>
(Natalia Vhecht) had ever been to the top. I think my brother used to tell me stories of ancient monks who climbed them, just to reach the heavens." Nat paused a moment, a twinge of sadness crossing her features. "I can't say the memories I have it are fond ones. But I am looking forward to a day where maybe I can go back and make new ones." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian noticed the flash of sadness cross her features, and frowned a bit. “That day will come, I know it!” Talian exclaimed. “There will come a day when no one will have to fear the Garlean Empire any longer. I want to make sure that day comes. I’ve actually been considering getting a group together. I’ve heard about what the Warrior of Light has been able to accomplish with the help of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and I want to recreate that.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) There are so many people out there who are great warriors and scholars and medics, that are wasting their talents alone, but together, those individuals could be so much more. I know armies fight wars, but the Warrior of Light has shown that sometimes small, precise groups can get more accomplished at times than entire armies can.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) So I want to form an Adventurer's Guild of sorts, specifically to help the planet Hydaelyn with any threat that may face it…” Talian took a second to breath and take a sip of wine before continuing, “I know what you’re probably thinking, ‘Sounds like a fool errand’, and it might be, but I KNOW that there are others out there who share my same mindset, who are willing to help save this planet.”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian seemed extremely energetic about this. There was a bit of concern to his voice, this was the first time he had shared his thoughts on this, but he seemed very sincere. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) She had been chewing on her lip anxiously, her thoughts on the remnants of her home that may or may not have even been there. Talian stole her attention when he began rambling again, and she glanced his way. An... Adventure's Guild? The Warrior of Light? The things he was saying made sense, but she had never really related to any of those fancy stories she heard about in passing. But... it was admirable. "You feel very strongly about this. I can see that. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) You have the right attitude to go about it, too." Nat sighed, taking a good look around the Quicksand. "You have a grand goal. You don't see many people these days working towards a greater good... How would you start it?" -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian sighed with relief, he was glad she didn’t immediately dismiss his idea all together. “Well.” He said, “I think there is nothing to it but to do it. I have recently made some good friends that I think would be great assets to a group of this kind. I feel as though we would just need to start with a handful of people, try to do some great things, and then let our deeds speak for themselves.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Maybe slay some Primals, maybe protect some city from beastmen, I don’t know, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that we help, and we help in a big way. At that point, our deeds alone should attract anyone else who want to help our cause.” Talian finished his second glass of wine as he shifted a bit in his seat. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Nat nodded slowly, thinking herself crazy for even conisdering his words. Sure, there were plenty of capable warriors out there. She had met several herself. But she had seen what became of people who got in over their heads. Hells, she witnissed it not too long ago. She frowned then, her faith in Talian's operation falling. "But those are all nearly impossible feats. People are ungrateful, even when people stand to defend them. Others are blind, even to the truth. Are they even worth saving?"
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia sighed, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I think what you're doing is a wonderful thing. I just... it's hard for me to believe in a cause anymore." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian face grew very serious and the words that started to come from his mouth had absolute conviction behind them. “This isn’t a ‘cause’.” He said defiantly, “I think that is why I am able to be so passionate about it myself. This isn’t a cause, this is a duty. We are all members of this star, we are all one on this planet, and if we don’t do our duty for the star we call, then we won’t have a star to call home.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) I’ve seen this world burn once before, the revelation of which was literally blinding. I’ve seen cities engulfed, and oceans parted. I’ve seen mountains leveled, and families torn apart. And I know you’ve seen the same, and that is why I feel you are perfect for such a thing. I HATE the Garleans, but I don’t fight them for revenge, or because of some kind of vendetta, I fight them for the future.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) I fight them so no one ever has to go through what we went through, no one has to have their homes and families ripped away from them. I fight them so that no one that comes after me will have to. I fight for the fate of this star. If we give up all hope, we give up this very star.” Talian took a breath and realized he had started getting a bit loud. Luckily there wasn’t too many people in the bar, and most of those who were had passed out by this point. He continued in a softer voice,>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “Like I said, I’ve seen this world burn once, and if those like us who have the ability to do something decide to do nothing, it will burn again, and this time there will be nothing left to rise from the ashes.” -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Eyes wide, Natalia stared at him for a long while, even after he had finished speaking. There were certain parts that rang true for her, and most of it she knew she could relate to. How many times as a child had she dreamed of being the hero to bring the Garleans to their knees? How many times had she watched her comrades fight for their freedom, only to be laid low by their enemies? It made her sick to her stomach. She had fought all her life to save her people, to save her home. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) If she couldn't do that, then what right did she have to call herself Ala Mhigan? Smiling gently, she turned again to Talian. "You make a persuasive arguement. I apologize. I didn't mean to sound discouraging. I have just seen many who have lost their lives, and I always fear for the lives of my people. But I agree with you, nonetheless. If it is help you seek, then I shall aid you. I am no Warrior of Light, I'm simply a woman with practical skills. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) But if you have a use for that, then I shall provide assistance." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian’s expression lightened and he smiled slightly at Nat. “You can take care of yourself, I know that from first hand experience, my back still hurts from that table you beamed with.” He said with a slight laugh. “I’m sorry I got as passionate as I just did, it’s something that I’ve had on my mind for a while now, but this was my first time actually putting in words.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) The skills of the individual, while still important, will pale in comparison to the heart of the many, that is my overall goal. I want to form a group of people who will become one for the sake of our star. A group of ten, maybe twenty, highly skilled people, acting as one in seamless fashion, could take down a hundred men.”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He ran his finger around the rim of his empty glass before leaning back in his seat. “I don’t have any official details ironed out at this moment, again, you are the first I’ve even talked to about this, but as soon as I do, you will be the first to know. Thank you for listening to the ramblings of crazy person, Natalia. You honor me by not turning your ears away.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) I know we’ve only know each other for a short time, but I feel like a connection with you I don’t share with many others. It’s probably due to the fact that we have such similar horror stories of lives, but regardless, I thank you, Nat.” -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Natalia grinned, holding her tankard up to him as she let out a small chuckle. "You don't have anything to apologize for. It is... a welcome sight, to see someone just as eager to change their surroundings. I thank you for your trust in sharing this with me. It takes a lot to open up to an almost stranger." She finished the rest of her ale and sat the glass down, pushing it towards the end of the table. "I look forward to seeing the people you manage to gather for this task of yours. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) I imagine many colorful people in your future." Rotating her shoulders a bit, she leaned back in her chair and folded her arms across her chest. "It has grown late, it seems. What do you say we get a decent nights rest, let our muscles heal a bit, and then we can begin in the early light." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) "I fear I must disappoint you there Nat.” Talian said with a smile, “I fear I won’t be around when you wake in the morn. I am going to be heading back to Ishgard before the sun rises tomorrow, for I am needed back home. But fret not, I’ve got us covered.” With a quick motion, Talian reached into his pocket, produced a small orb, and tossed it lightly to her.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “T’is a Linkshell, I purchased a few of these with our future guild in mind. If you ever need to get in touch with me, or vice-versa, all one would have to do is speak into it, and everyone holding a Linkshell with the same Aetherial frequency will be able to hear it.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) You are correct though, the hour does grow late… or early rather, and I do have quite the journey ahead of me in a few hours, perhaps it is best that we do retreat to our rooms for some much desired rest.” Talian grabbed a couple more gil and placed it on the table for the wench and stood up. -d-
(Natalia Vhecht) Glancing up at him in confusion, she barely caught the orb in time before she stared down at it, never really seeing one up close. "I've heard of these. Never used one before, though. Can't be too hard." She had been wrong before, of course. "All the way back home then? I wish you well in your travels. If what you say is true, all you'd need to do is contact me with... this," And she held up the tiny linkshell to stare at it in the dim light of the bar. >>
(Natalia Vhecht) "Though I'm not one for traveling far from Thanalan, I imagine a journey further would be interesting." Natalia stood finally, offering her hand out to Talian. "Until next time, then. Azeyma protect you until the day we meet again." -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian nodded at her words and said, “I come around here quite often myself, so I’m sure we will run into each other before too long, and if not, I’ll just call you.” He accepted her hand shake, and then bowed politely, before responding once more. “Until next time then.” He said with a smile before heading to the bar for a second to talk briefly with the Elezen running the place, before heading to his room. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Tali talked aimlessly with the druken man, as he drank a very bottom shelf ale, but to be honest, every shelf in this place was a bottom shelf.
(Sora Katsumi) Resummoning his book and taking the look on the dragoon from afar, Sora decided to go ahead and heal up Tali and Nata while keeping an eye on the rest of the bar -d-
{There is a short fast forward here to the end of the fight, with Talian and Natalia finishing off the adventurers, and Sora leaving.}
