(Talian Ostrider) ‘Hhhhaaa…. It’s been a long week.’ Talian pondered to himself as he sat at the bar it The Forgotten Knight, halfway through his first glass of wine. He had traveled a long way, been in multiple bar fights, started some new training with a new friend, and had finally managed to make it back home to his favorite bar. The Forgotten Knight was slow tonight, no doubt from all of the people trying to rebuild their lives now that The Dragonsong War had ended.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian enjoyed it though, especially after the week he had gone through. Tali sloshed around the crimson liquid in his wine glass before finishing it off with a sigh of satisfaction. “Gibs” Talian addressed the Bartender, Gibrillont, “Can I get another please?” He asked the Elezen. “Of course, m’lord. Another wine, coming up.” The bartender replied, filling up Talian’s glass and sliding it back to him. Tali scooped it up, and took another sip. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex quite litterally flung the doors to the fogotten Knght, her anger visible on her face and the eyes radiiated a fiery anger. She stormed down the stairs to the bar, grumbling to herself. "Bloody shite eatin' high 'n' mighty no good spear pokers!" ALex had traveled a long way to speak with the dragoon order, hoping to to learn more about the stone whse had aquired from the wandering Dragoon she had failed to save and who had entrusted his stone to her. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex approached the bar, and slammed several gil on the table. "Mead! and keeps 'em comin'!" Alex looked next to here. It was the man from the fight in Ul'dah the other day! What was he doing in Ishgard? "Oi, nice to sees ya again! Sorry for me manners, never got your name boyo! I be Alexis McCallister!" Alex extended her hand in a friendly guesture, the the orders rebutal of her plea still visible in her eyes and body language. She managed to give a smile, even if only half of one. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian sighed as soon as he heard the newcomer causing a commotion and decided to just keep to himself, however, no sooner after had he made this decision, had the newcomer addressed him. “Oh?” He sounded inquisitively, turning to look upon the person addressing him. It took him a second, but he recognized the young female Miqo’te, she had been at the Quicksand in Ul’dah during that bar fight earlier in the week. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) In fact, his memory was a bit fuzzy from the amount he had to drink that night, he seemed to remember that she played a big part in starting that fight, though Tali knew he had been the one to really escalate it. He bow to here once recognition had set in. “Oh! Good evening!” He said to her returning her handshake, “Nice to meet you again, Alexis. My name is Talian Alexander Ostrider. A pleasure to finally make your acquaintance. What pray-tell seems to be the trouble?>>>
(Talian Ostrider) A person doesn’t make an order like that without something on their mind.” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex nodded and smiled in return to Talian's polite bow. She felt the first mug had slid down into her hand. She took a big drink and slammed the mea down. She sighed and looked over to her fellow bar patron. She remememberd his help withthe lime sashed ruffians the other day and felt that he seemed a decent enough fellow. He could be answered and she'd not have to worry about anything. "Aye, I done traveled all this way to this 'ere city to speak to the Dragoon order. I wanted to ask them >>
(Alexis Mccallister) about this..." She held up he left hand and on it was a ring with a bluish azure stone. It appeared rather dull. "It be a Dragoons stone. I was entrusted it by an Elderly dragoon in yellow armor whom I met on the road in Gridania. We took a few jobs together and found that we shared a similar tale. We both left wour orders to help the common folk, the he left due to being fed up with the Dragonsong war and I from..eh...well I left the paladins for corruption was rife. We formed a bond and he >>
(Alexis Mccallister) was mortally wounded. Tried to save 'em I did, but he left me his stone. I wanna learn to use it and repay his trust in me, but I canna' get it to resonate with me." Alex took another, longer swig of her mead and slammed it down, signalling for another. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian listened to her story intently, a Dragoon in yellow armor, that sounded a bit familiar, but it had been so long since he had been with the order that he couldn’t place him. “A tragic tale indeed. I know the Dragoon Order very well, and pardon my bluntness, but they always seem to act like they jump with their lances planted firmly between their legs, don’t they?” Talian said with a slight chuckle, before seriousing up a bit. He took another sip of his wine before continuing. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) “The Soul of the Dragoon is a very unique stone indeed. Where as many soul stones simply react to wielder’s will, I’ve found that the Soul of the Dragoon is more of a symbiotic stone. It thrives off of the bravery and gallantry of the wielder. It’s my belief that this is why many Dragoons act like total curs. It’s because you almost HAVE to have a big ego for the stone to resonate with you. Pray don’t misunderstand me however, there are other ways.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) I might have a bit of a big head, but I don’t mistreat others the way some Dragoons do, and my stone resonates with me fine.” Talian explained in between small sips of wine. As he spoke the last sentence, he pulled up a chain he had around his neck, revealing a stone extremely similar to the one Alex held, however, this one looked slightly different than anyone she had seen before. This one let off a beautiful, yet faint, white and gold aura.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Talian placed in down on the bar in between them, so Alex could get a better look. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex chuckled a bit at his joke regarding the order. "Yeah, they sound a mite like the old paladins I use to wrok for they do!" A smile. She needed that. She listened to his words regarding the stone. Bravery and gallantry? Alex felt she was brave. The part about not abusing other made her happy and she smiled. "Aye, I be glad to know ya dinna' bully others. It's reapectable that it!" Alex observed him as he lay his stone on the table before them. Odd, its glow was more akin to her paladin >>
(Alexis Mccallister) stone, which gave a blue and brilliant white aura. She placed the ring on her right hand next to his on the table and raised and eyebrow. "YA dinna' be a regular dragoon do ya?" Alex questioned. "Ya stone seems differnt..almost as more akin to a paladin of the holy order rather than a stone soly dedicated to slayin' dragons." Alex looked at Talian, pondering what was the mystery with his stone. "Lemme ask ya another question. Ya says taht bravery and gallantry 'elps 'em resonate. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Is it possible I not be brave enough? Or be it maybe I be trying to hard and force it too speak." ALexis' ears flattened a tad. She always jumped first when danger arose and put herself between others and harm. But she had noticed she had been exhausting herslef lately whenever she weilded her halberd. A slightly distraught look came into her eyes as she awaited Talians response to her questions about both his stone and herself.-d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian finished off his glass of wine while he listened to Alex’s inquiries. As another drink was slide to him he answered her first question, “I am… a bit different, yes. I walk a path few dragoons have ever even thought about, yet I still seem to be far from my goal.” Talian looked a bit disappointed, until he contemplated her second question, and the disappointed look quickly changed to one of apology. “Pray forgive me!” He pleaded,>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “I meant not to sound as if I was questioning your bravery. If anything, I saw your bravery first hand in Ul’dah. On the contrary, you may be doing too much. Many of the trainees who were training to become Dragoons at the same time I was didn’t make it, even though they had the biggest hearts I’d ever seen, they wanted it to much. They would beg and plead with their stone, asking it to resonate with them, but it was all for naught.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) It is my belief that the Soul of the Dragoon cares not for honeyed words, and it knows when it’s wielder is desperate for it’s power.” Talian put down his wineglass and picked up the chain with his stone on it. “I have never spoken a word to this stone, and I have never heard it speak to me. I simply respect the power that it holds inside, and I can feel that it respects the deeds I’ve done while wielding it.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) I believe that was how Lord Haldrath’s relationship with his stone worked, and to this day I believe that the order has forgotten what Lord Haldrath discovered on that day centuries ago. The Dragonsong War was started due to an act of betrayal and cowardice, and Haldrath spent the rest of his years fighting to make things right again.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He didn’t become the first Dragoon the day he picked up a lance… He became the first Dragoon the day he decided to atone for his sins through honorable battle and brave sacrifice.” Talian seemed to get a bit fired up as he spoke, almost like he was somewhat reminding himself of this fact. Talian slid his Soul of the Dragoon back underneath his armor, and smiled at Alexis, hoping he had helped a bit. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex listened intently and nodded as Talian spoke. She could feel the truth of his words and the passion in his voice resonated almost palpably. Alex began to feel better. "Aye, meybe ya be right. I me desire to do right by the Yellow Dragoon I been pushin' meself too hard, demanding too much of the stone. Mayhaps it wil lcome naturally, long as me heart remains to be true and deeds right." Alex watched as Talian put his sotne back and she retieved her ring, with the stone of a paladin that >>
(Alexis Mccallister) still shone bright as ever, destpite her falling from the order. "Y'know..t be funny. I wanted to be a paladin all me life, to protect folk and help any in need. The stone just...took to me and I never 'ad to speak with it...even now, It resonates, despite me bein' labeled a fallen paladin. I 'spose that when the dragoon stone dinna' resonate with me i got discouraged and tried to force it, upset it wasn't as natural, but I wanna thanks ya Talian. Now I'll take it at me own pace, and let the >>
(Alexis Mccallister) stone resonate when it feels the time be right." Alex looked to the man and gave a heartfelt smile and took another drink. She looked to the man and noticed his lance was not on his person. "Aye, where be ya spear if'n ya don'
(Alexis Mccallister) >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Dinna' mind me asking?" Alex packed her halberd on her back and all the dragoons she'd seen pakced theirs as well. "T'would appear ya be a Dragoon of some skill, and I gots to be 'onest, I be a bit of a weapon gal. I would love to see a spear that a man such as yourself weilds!" Alex was returning to her normal fantastic and bombastic self as she grinned. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smirked a bit, “Nowadays. I’ve always got my Lance on me.” He said and then extended his arm out, and with a quick white and gold flash, he had his lance in his hand. It was a very unique weapon, and seemed to almost be made out of the same material his armor was, complete with the same color scheme. The blade of the lance glew with the same white and gold aura that his soulstone had. He held it out for Alexis to examine a bit before holding down at his side.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) “Just comes with that path I was talking about earlier.” He said, referencing his ability to summon his lance at will, “Also, don’t mention it, Alexis. Honestly, this conversation has been beneficial to me as well. Which brings me to want to ask you some questions. I seemed to have gotten so worked up doing that last spill, that I’m only just now noticing that your Soulstone shares a very similar aura to mine, which honestly confirms a suspicion I had.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) You claim that the Order of Paladins is rife with corruption? I’ve had enough corruption for a while. Do you know of somewhere else I could learn more about Paladins, or maybe, you may even be able to help me?” He asked Alexis, lance still at his side. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) ALex gasped as he summoned hs lance! That was somehting she'd never seen a dragoon do! He must have been a rather unique dragoon. jsut as he'd stated. But she had no time to wonder about it. He had asked her to learn more about the paladins. She was not about to let him learn form the corrupt order. She struck an idea in her head. She smiled happily at Talian. her eyes beaming with delight and interest. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) "Aye, I would rather ya not learn from them white armored liars and bullies. Hows bout I teach ya what I knows, and you in turn 'elp me learn to weild this better! An teach how ya summon it outta thin air! Tha seems 'andy it does!" ALex smirked and nudged Talians shoudler playfully. She had hopefully found a teacher and she would be able to teach her. A mutually benificial relationship!. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian grinned happily, “That sounds like a fantastic idea to me! Though I will be honest, I’m not sure I can teach you how I summon my weapon. Not sure I truly know why I can do that myself, but I think learning a bit more about paladins will help me discover that, and I promise, if I learn how exactly I do it, you will be the first person I teach!” He said with a laugh. He then flicked his wrist, and with that, his lance disappeared again.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He leaned back towards the bar just as the bartender was walking up to pour him another glass of wine, which Talian waved off. “No, no, get me a pint of the same mead she’s drinking!” He said to Gibrillont. “This is exciting! I’m really looking forward to learning from you! And I hope I can teach you as much as I can!” He cheered, scooping up his new mug of mead, turning towards Alexis, and holding the mug out to her, wanting her to clash mugs with him. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) ALex returend with him to the bar and wasted no time oin gaining another jug of mead. She held it up and clashed it against his, toasting as she did so. "AYE! TO the start of a fruitful and meaninful realationship me friend!" She spoke tue. Talian was already a friend. He offered her more than anyone else inthe city had, and she intended to do the same. "Call me Alex! All me friends do!" After the clink and her statements, she threw back a good amount of the frothy mead, letting loose a loud >>
(Alexis Mccallister) happy sigh. She smiled to him. 'I'll teach ya anything I can. In fact, I'll even teach ya how to halfsword if'n ya be interested. Im the only paladin, er, ex-paladin who rdoes it." She looked rather pleased with herself. -d
(Talian Ostrider) Talian swallowed down a huge gulp of mead as well and let loose a burp upon finishing it, “Ahem, excuse me.” He said covering his mouth again. “Ah yes, well once again, it is great to meet you Alex. You can call me Talian, or Tali if you’d like. And I’d love to learn to half-sword. I honestly think it would be more my style, being a lancer and what not, being able to hold more of the weapon, you know?”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He said to her with a grin before taking another gulp of mead, and then wiping his mouth with a napkin. “So tell me a bit more about yourself, where are you from, what inspires you to do what you do?” He asked her, putting his mug down for a bit and focusing on his coveration with Alex. -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex sighed and smiled. How nice it would be to teach someone else halfswording. Her story huh? "Well, when I was a kitten, me mum and I traveled to Ul'dah. Shes a sculptor and and Artist, Anastasia McCallister, and I happened to see a paladin fight off ten or so thug on his one-seme to savea merchant and his family. I knew then and there I wanted to Join them. I'd always stood up to bullies, even other kiddos bullies, and I 'ave a knack for useing almost any weapon I pick up. I was 6, and i >>
(Alexis Mccallister) trained and worked till at 15 i was accepted into the order. AT 18 they made me a captain, one of the youngest ever. I was so happy! I was one of the free paladins, able to travel and help all manner of folks! protectin' them, helping where i could, and keeping ner'do'wells off the streets." She was beaming with pride, then her face scoured." But then Hynryk...a-anyway, I left the order and was labeled a fallen paladin. I keeps doding what i love and nothing will ever change that,, official >>
(Alexis Mccallister) order or none!" Alex smiled again after looking depressed and looked to Tali. "So hows about you? What kinda Dragoon are ya? Ya dinna' seem like the rest. Not only are ya kind, ya seem a mite more capable." -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) A'vette enjoyed herself the last time she was in Ishgard. The cold rarely bothered her, but this time she was in warmer clothing. An adventuring group she had joined had disbanded and she was once again left without companions. With little else to do, A'vette and her fairy friend Eos traveled to the Forgotten Knight for a drink and a chance to read. Walking inside, she was pleased to see her beautiful Flame, Alexis, at the counter talking to an unfamiliar Hyurian man. >>
(A'vette Rayoh) A smile on her face, she dashed toward the fiery-haired miqo'te and hugged her from behind. "Bonjour, ma amour! What a surprise to see you here! I missed you!" Her chin resting on her shoulder, she adressed the Hyur. "Oh, where are my manners? A'vette. A'vette Rayoh. C'est un plaisir de vous rencontrer. (Pleasure to meet you.)" -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smiled and nodded as he listened to her story. When she finished and asked him about himself, he smirked, and then spoke, “Well, like I said, I am a bit different, though I don’t claim to be any better or worse skill-wise, than those in the order. I don’t really have a name for exactly what I am, so I just claim to be a Dragoon, just on a slightly different path. Like many others, I call this beautiful city home. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) I was raised her my whole life, alongside my little brother and my mom and dad. When I was very young my parents…” He was suddenly cut off by another young Miqo’te female running up and hugging Alex. She then spoke to him, introduced herself, and spoke a language Talian didn’t know. Talian reached his hand out to shake the new girls hand, “Um, Talian… Talian Alexander Ostrider.” He told her, before bowing a bit to her. >>>
(Talian Ostrider) “I’m not sure I understood what you said there at the end, but I think I got the gist. Nice to meet you! How do you know Alex?” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex had been listening intently to Talian, and was takne by surpise when A'vette hugged her from behind. She turned to great her love and smiled to her warmly. She spoke to her after Talian finished introducing himself to her. "Tali, this is me love, me Ruby." Alex held A'vettes' hand tightly. "Me an' Talian 'ere was talking 'bout our pasts and our what drives us." >>
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex then smiled warmly and took another drink of mead, offering A'vette so share here cup. "Me an' Talian is gonna teach each other. Me to him about Paladin-ing and him to me 'bout Dragoon-in'. Ain't that wonderful Vette? I'll be able to be a better protector and fighter than before." She turned to Talian. "And I'd says I'd made me a friend I 'ave!" She shot him a bombastic and fantastic grin. -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) giggled at her love's tale. She loved hearing about Alexis getting stronger. "Aww, I'm so proud of you, flamme. My burning flame is getting stronger by the day." She nuzzled Alexis' cheek with her nose playfully, taking the drink she offered. "Oh, my apologies, monsieur. I said zat it was a pleasure to meet you. I forget ozers don't understand Bardic, being a language lost. So when did you meet my love, Ser Tali-..." >>
(A'vette Rayoh) "Wait... did you say your name is Talian? Talian Ostrider? Ze one who saved Star's life in ze Calamity? Wha- What an honor to finally meet you! She's said so much about you!" A'vette was in shock. This was a man she long thought was dead, but here he was, standing before her clad in shining armor. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian listened to the both of them speak or how they know each other, “Ah, well it sounds like you are both very luck girls to have one another. You both seem super cute with one another.” He said with a smile. He then listened to what A’vette had to say, and was taken back a bit when Star’s name came up. “Oh, you know Star?” Talian asked.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) Yes, I am indeed that Talian. I left civilization for a couple years, but I’ve been back for a few months now. I am still very much alive.” He said with a smile. He picked up his mug and took another gulp, “I gotta say, it’s exciting that Star was able to make so many good friends while I was gone.” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex looked back and forth between the two for a second then stopped at Talian. "So ya saved Star's life? A hero in my book ya are!" Alex smiled happily. She had only met Star on a few occasions, but liked her quite a bit. "So Talian, ya says ya was from Ishgard all ya life? I be from Limsa, born and raised. In fact, I dinna 'ave a Miqote tribal name. Neither does me mum. Its just Alexis and me mum, Anastasia. Me family has been there for generations. How long your line been in Ishgard? -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) had never heard Alexis' mother's name. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman no doubt. "I hail from Gridainia. Daughter of a famous singer zat fought in ze Calamity years ago. I had a sister as well. We weren't exactly tribal eizer, but we kept ze names for rememberance sake. I'm a bard by trade. Manage a theatre in Mist with my best friend, Kisumi. >>
(A'vette Rayoh) Zough, I have sought ozer forms of defense, such as ze arcane." Without warning, Eos, the fairy familiar following A'vette, flew behind Alexis and sat on her shoulder, looking down at her face. "Ah, and zat's Eos, my fey friend. She's been teaching me ze ways of ze Nymian Scholars. I was going to tell you about zat ze last time I saw you, flamme." -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) *when I saw you next
(Talian Ostrider) Talian smiled and nodded as both of them spoke of their pasts. “Yeah, I found Star not long after the calamity. Poor girl was a mess. I helped nurse her back to health and her and I have been very close ever since. And yeah, my dad’s side of the family had been in Ishgard for as long as there has been written history at least. My mother was… from somewhere else.”>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He spoke that last part with a bit of hesitation, he took another gulp of mead before continuing. “It is very nice to meet you Eos.” He said nodding at the fairy. “I’ll have to check out your theatre some time. I believe I’ve heard Star mention Kisumi before as well.” -d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex jumped a bit as the fairy landed on her shoulder nad looked at her playfully. "Hello there little lass." ALex smiled warmly to eos and A'vette. She wanted Vette to know she suppoted her endevours 100%. She retunred to Talian and listend intently, and when he seemd to hesistate, her motherly nature wanted to press, but she knew it would be wrong. "Aye, I dinna' mean to dredge up old memories. Mereley to get to know ya better." Alex smiled warmly to Talian. >>
(Alexis Mccallister) "Me Ruby does work at a theatr. Oh, ya should 'ear her sing! T'would put the voices of the twleve to shame! I lives nearby, so maybe one day after we practice we can stops by!" She tunred to A'vette. "Though ya cann' be too scared if'n me and Talian 'ere show up a might banged ad bruised. I plan to teach 'em with all i got with no 'oldin' back! 'tould be disrespectful otherwise and ithink he'll be doing the same for me!" Alex gave a grin that seemd to beam eagerness and happiness >>
(Alexis Mccallister) towards Tali. She was simply happy to not only meake afriend, but also a teacher and a mutal pupil! This would make them both better warriors and by proxy, ALex thoguht, stronger individuals. Seh dind't know Talian well enough to say for certain, but if he saved Star, listend to her woes, and offered his help, then he was a pretty upstanding individual! -d-
(A'vette Rayoh) "Try not to bang her up too badly, Talian. I still need somezing to keep me warm at night, if you get my meaning." A'vette smirked at Alexis as she leaned in to peck her on the cheek. She took her love's hand and squeezed. "I'd love to stay and chat, ma cheres, but I must be heading back home. I still have a lot of work to do if I want to unlock all of Eos' secrets." Taking Alexis' chin in her hand, she briefly stole a kiss from her lips. "Au revoir, my love. Parting is such sweet sorrow. >>
(A'vette Rayoh) And, again, it was a pleasure to finally meet you, Talian. I look forward to when we next meet. Take care." She bowed to the Dragoon, turning to walk to the staircase, slowly pulling her hand away from Alexis'.
(Talian Ostrider) Talian beamed a powerful smile as well in return to Alex, “I would never think of holding back while training.” He said before turning to A’vette, “And don’t worry, luckily I know a bit a white magic, if things ever came to that. Luckily, young Alex here seems like she could probably hold her own just fine with my old bones.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) And I would definitely like to hear you perform sometime, I’m sure it’s lovely. But alas, ‘tis getting late, I should probably be returning home soon as well.” He bowed to the leaving A’vette before turning back to Alex. “When would you like to start our training?” He asked her.-d-
(Alexis Mccallister) Alex felt A'vette kiss her lips and she began to walk up the stairs. ALex wanted to give chase. She looked to Talian who was excusing himself as well. "How bouts the Mist in about two days? The beach there is perfect for us. Good scenery and plenty 'o' room." Alex smiled before looking again at A'vette. That new outfit brought out something taht Alex liked. It made her look intelligent. "Alex offered Talian one final handshake and smiled warmly. "I live in the topmast. I look forward to >>
(Alexis Mccallister) 'avign ya! I'll even cook us a dinner fit for a king in honor of our first trainin' session." with that, Alex ran to catch A'vette, taking her hand and precking her lips as they walk. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian nodded in agreeance, “Mist sounds great, I don’t get out that way often enough!” He said keeping his huge smile. “I’ve even going hunting before I come and bring you something great to cook!” Tonight had been a good night, he had made a couple new friends, and hopefully one of those friends could help him get closer to where he wants to be.>>>
(Talian Ostrider) He finished off his mead, and bowed to Alexis. “Tonight was great, it’s been fantastic making your acquaintance. I’ll see you in two days!” He stood from his bow, pulled out more than enough coins to pay for them both, and sprinkled them onto the bar. And with a nod to his new friends, headed home for the evening. -d-
(Talian Ostrider) Talian enjoyed it though, especially after the week he had gone through.
