Words meet Song!
----------------------------
It'd been a slow day at the Wench today. Having taken up a job as a waiter and cook, Takeshi found his hands full now a days, with crafting and his new job. It was better this way, he presumed. It gave him the experience he'd need to move on to bigger and better things! For the time being, he was behind the bar cleaning some of the dishes, his attention down to the sink. He was humming a soft tune, unaware of what was going on around him.
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
"C? No, E minor? Ah, I can't decide how to open this piece!" A'vette scribbled fervently into her journal notes to her newest piece. She had returned to Limsa after a few days of adventure with a group of Wailers. The Deepcroft was taken over by local cultists again and someone needed to take care of them. Seemed like prime material for her craft. But, like always, she was stuck on the words AND the tune. Gods, when will it end! No matter, she needed a drink. Returning to her favorite pub, she plopped down at the bar. "Baderon, the usual, if you would!" Sweet red. Her favorite musing drink. >>(edited)
"Ah, A'vette! Back again, I see? Come to play again?" Baderon loved to use A'vette as a sort of attraction to bring in patrons. Come see the beautiful Crimson Songstress live at the Drowning Wench! She didn't mind the attention, it's just coin is going to play a part eventually. "Not this time, love. The 'Crimson Songstress' has a chocobo to feed. First few were my generosity."
Kian - 12/06/2016
The man who owned the bar smirked as he saw who was arriving. Discussing with the Songstress, all was going well, Though, he paused and looked to the miqo'te, who looked like he could use a change of pace. "... Ey', Tae-ki... Bah, kid, get the lass a glass of Sweet Red. Ya' gotta start learnin' about folks, stop drainin' 'erythin' out." The male cat jolted slightly, before nodding with a smirk. He quickly got to work preparing a glass of Sweet Red wine and brought it to the patron. Setting the glass down on the bartop, he smiled at the girl, though, he hadn't recognized her face yet. Not like he would, he hadn't paid much attention to her last time, too caught up in his own thoughts. It seemed he was in a better place now. He leaned against the bar with both arms as his ears fluttered, tail flickering back and forth. "Anything else I can get for you?"
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
Baderon motioned to a young Miqo'te behind him to fetch A'vette a glass. A little forceful on the delivery on someone so young, honestly. "Oh, take it easy on the poor kitten. He's still young, lost in his own mind." Baderon really had to work on that. How is he supposed to bring in young adventurers if he acts that way? The kitten nodded to the barkeep with a grin, quickly fetching a glass. Ah, a feisty one. She liked that. Chuckling, she closed her eyes, musing a bit and relaxing. It was a bit slow, maybe two or three other people at the tables behind. Mid-afternoon, she'd say, made sense for a crowd like this. It gave her a moment of piece and quiet, a perfect writing environment. Soon, her glass had arrived. She looked to the glass, lifting it to her nose, swirling the drink around and savoring the sweet aroma.
The kitten had leaned against the bar, ears fluttering a bit. A'vette hadn't gotten a good look at him yet, too lost in her thoughts to pay any mind. How rude, she thought. "Oh, my apologies. Nothing else for now, save a little company-" She looked up at the Miqo'te's face, finally. Strange, she felt like they had met before. His eyes seemed to shine in the light behind her, golden like poured honey. He had tied his violet hair in a bun and held it in place with a few pins, seeming Eastern in appearance. Ah, now she remembered! She had met this kitten some time ago, when she first met Kisumi. She remembered him talking to an older Hyurian lad, the sailor type. He seemed troubled by something at the time, so now she might finally get the chance to offer him a penny for his thoughts. Removing her hat, she spoke, "Ah, so we meet again, kitten. I didn't know you worked here. Been well, I trust?"
Kian - 12/06/2016
"Hm? Kitten?" He heard the comment and nearly puffed up, but, then he remembered. Yes, he looks young yet, and acted a bit immature. He had every reason for the title. ... Was it affectionate? He wasn't sure if it should be flattering or embarassing! He tilted his face, keeping a mask over his emotions with a smile still. "I just started, actually. There's.. Been hell, in my life, to put it nicely." He rolled up his sleeves, exposing bandages. All of both arms was wrapped up, and so was his chest and torso under his shirt... He hid it decently well underneath a Jacket and long sleeves. But his adjustment of his clothes made it plain to see crimson stained bandages. He noticed this and frowned. He quickly pulled the sleeves back down so Baderon wouldn't see.
". . . I.. got to see my sister again, after so man years... It.. wasn't a nice reunion..." He looked aside, before looking back to the young woman. "But, I'm not here to talk about myself. You wanted company...~ So, please, tell me what's on your mind~." His words came like honey, sweetened by a tone more alike to... seduction? Maybe he had a background in.. entertaining? The kitten smiled softly as he swayed a little.
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
The young man reacted to her friendly pet name like she surmised. She giggled a little and smiled. "Don't worry, I call Kisumi the same thing." He was hiding his emotions fairly well for someone so young. That only added to her concern. What could he mean by "hell," she wondered. Then she saw the bandages. The entire upper half was covered in them. Surprising that Baderon hadn't noticed by now. He usually has a good eye for it. Then came the stains of crimson. That did it. Her concern instantly became worry. So, what Kisumi said was true. Twelve preserve the poor thing, she thought.
His mention of a sister did nothing to quell the looming worry. Don't tell me she did that! Gods... I suppose you really can't pick your family. She felt she had to do something. But why? Why did she feel this way? What drove her to try and help this young man? Mom. Of course. A'versa Rayoh could never ignore someone who needed a friend. Like mother, like daughter, it seemed. A'vette leaned over on the counter toward him, the gold bells on her tabard jingling as she shifted. She spoke with her characteristic charisma and charm, but softer and more welcoming. Almost sisterly. "I don't believe we introduced ourselves properly previously. A'vette Rayoh. Though some here know me as the Crimson Songstress. His idea, not mine. It's a pleasure, Takeshi." She held out her ornamented hand, palm facing upward, as if to offer a shake. She tilted her head in Baderon's direction, who had walked away, tending to other patrons.
Kian - 12/06/2016
She.. knew his name? Hm.. He nodded gently, and took her hand. The male wasn't accustomed to handshakes, but, he was willing to indulge. Perhaps they'd met before, and he didn't remember! "The pleasure is mine, miss A'vette. I apologize for last time.." He let go of her hand and tilted his face with curiousity. "Sonstress, hm? Perhaps you know of Kisumi,? She's a good friend of mine.." He paused, looked aside and mewled softly, blushing. "Such a Siren, that girl." He looked back to A'vette before smirking, swaying a little with tail up, likely in a flirting manner. "I'd like to think I have a talent for song, but.. it's something I don't talk about often~." With a light blush to his cheeks, he leaned closer, back arched as he held his face in both hands. "Can you keep a secret~?"
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
A'vette beamed as Takeshi returned her gesture. That seemed easy enough. At least he was the friendly sort. "Oh, Kisumi and I have met. It was just a few weeks ago that she played with me here. Quite the time, that was." His mewling over Kisumi was adorable. Perhaps he fancied her. Somehow she could see it working. She brushed the bangs over her violet eye lightly. "Most people do have the talent for music. But few act on it. Music is an experience, kitten. An experience best shared with friends." She quickly noticed Takeshi's shifting tone and body language. Could he, perhaps, be flirting with her? How cute. "A secret? Perhaps I could indulge. Do tell."
Kian - 12/06/2016
He mewled softly, as he sat down now on the stool beside him. "What if I said I could sing more than just Eorzean~? I can sing in Doman too." Pulling some bangs out of his face, he wondered if that made her curious. He'd never openly talked about his singing habits before, but now that Kisumi and Kallera had heard him sing in both languages, (While fighting his darkside), it was pretty obvious to those two that he had some special connection emotionally, to music and its influences. He figured after that day, that he could be a bit more open about it. And A'vette seemed to be a bard, so.. What could go wrong? Kisumi -had- said she wanted to perform with him some day... He smirked lightly at the thought.
"Have you ever heard Doman? It's very different than Eorzean." He sat up, looking aside, before leaning against the bar again and giving A'vette his attention. "Boku wa kimi no tame ni utaitai~."
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
She perked her ears straight up, eyes wide with interest. "Doman... you don't say?" Her mother had spent some time in Doma in A'vette's youth, before the Garleans invaded. Quite the beautiful country, she had been told. Much like her home in Gridania, a true marvel of nature. Her mother would travel around incessantly, listening and picking up on the musical styles and how they differed. She never shared did bring back any of their techniques, however. A'vette never knew why. "My mother actually spent some time in Doma before the Calamity. Beautiful country, she told me. Though I can't say I've met may of them. Until now, of course." Takeshi last few words were in Doman. Having heard it only a few times, she couldn't place the meaning. But the tone of his voice was clear. Smooth, soft, seductive. Like a fine serenade. "Would you be trying to woo me, kitten? A bit unfair to use your native tongue, wouldn't you say?"
Kian - 12/06/2016
Oh, she didn't understand. He took pride in that. Though, she was right. Doma was beautiful, so unimaginably so... He hoped she'd get a good impression of his homeland, though he wasn't exactly... the same, as he was when he left Doma. At least, she picked up on his tone, and got an idea of his intentions. He smiled more, despite the light rose hue to his cheeks. He wasn't used to flirting at all! This was taking every bit of bravery he had! "Mm, but then it wouldn't be as interesting, would it? Besides... Not every man can speak of the things I can~." He turned to the bottle of Sweet Red he'd gotten before, considering. No, he could do without. As he sat up some, a song rolled off his tongue, his tone gentle and sweet. It a tad sorrowful, maybe, but loving absolutely.
"Sora ni ukabu~ tsuki no you~ ni, Te wo nobashite mo, kimi wo tsukamenai. Yami no mukou, fureru mirai, Sakende mite mo, koe wa todaete. Itsuka tsutawaru ka na; Kaze ni noseta kotoba! Sora wo koete~, hoshi wo koete~! Kimi ni todoke kono Message! Toki wo koete, hikari koete. Kimi ni utau, Star Story~." He smiled softer as his eyes had shut away, he recalled the forests back home late at night, watching the stars slowly move across the sky at night. Their gentle light was something he admired to this day, and some nights, he found himself nostalgic staring at them. They were the same stars, in the same sky, but it brought him back to calmer times.
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
Takeshi's song rang out beautifully in A'vette's ears. Propping her head on the counter with one hand, she closed her eyes and took in the sounds. These moments were why she devoted her life to music. She understood very little of what was said, but it didn't matter. There was feeling. There was passion. There were memories.
"You know, there is an old saying among bards: 'Hearing a song is an experience. Hearing it for the first time is a privilege.' It's moments like these that are the reason I devoted my life to music. Music can heal the soul, inspire great heroes, calm the fiercest beasts. And one simple song can speak volumes, without saying a single word." Opening her eyes slowly, her other hand reached out and stroked under the kitten's chin. Bringing her finger to the tip, she curled it underneath, lifting his head up slightly, teasing him. Not bad, kitten, but too obvious. "Music has power, Takeshi. You'd be wise not to forget that." Winking, she returned her hand to her glass, leaning back and crossing her legs, satisfied.
Kian - 12/06/2016
He was proud of himself. See, courage pays off! They seemed happy to hear what he had. Though as she spoke, she leaned forward, and, a fingertip was placed under his chin, a very, very sensitive spot for him. More so than other people! His back arched instinctively, his tail bristling as he sat up with a soft moaning exhale. Damn it, you tease! Tilting his face up a bit, he looked her in the eyes with a slightly frustrated frown. Yes, of course he'd remember, but it'd be hard to remember her words WITHOUT the teasing part! "Yes, of course..." As she let go, he found himself shuddering with another exhale. He quickly leaned against the bar again, looking her way with a glare. Not angry, but.. Curious. What about that motion made him react so feverantly? What had she done? Part of him really wanted it again! But he wouldn't say it out loud.
"I understand, love.. Music has a special kind of influence on my life." He paused, a purring rumbling from his chest. "Hm.. Maybe I should really consider performing..."
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
A'vette giggled at Takeshi's reaction. Did she tease him a little too much? Some sort of kink or weakness, perhaps? It was almost too easy. He lacked experience when it came to women. That much was clear. Nothing wrong with that, especially with what he's been through. He just needs a bit of a push in the right direction. And she might know how to help him.
"Then it seems we have a lot in common. Have you thought about theater? Your friend Kisumi and I were talking about it last we spoke. I think she'd enjoy having you in it."
Taking another drink from her glass, she leaned forward. Taking the same finger she used to tease him, she traced the rim of the glass gently. Still maintaining her elegant aura, A'vette's red and violet eyes met his, and she continued, a sisterly smile across her face: "Your voice is a gift, Takeshi. A beautiful, wonderous gift. Don't let it go to waste. Let it be heard. Let the world know what's in your heart. Tell the world your story. It will do you a lot of good." She placed the hand on her glass on his, hoping to provide some assurance. I'm here to help, kitten. But it's up to you to let me."
Kian - 12/06/2016
He smiled as she spoke. "Mm... I would love that." His expression fell soft, as he watched her. . . . He wasn't used to being so open with people, so why did she induce this change? What exceptino did he subconsciously make? He frowned lightly, and let her words reach. Deeper, Takeshi... Let them truly sink. This isn't just flattery... She's not doing this to make you smile. Can't you see that? All the thigns you've been denying... See it from a stranger's perspective. See that they see it too, and you're not lying to yourself.
When she went for his hand, he jumped a little, seeming shocked, perhaps fearful, but he blinked a couple times before blushing badly and let his face fall, his palm tightened into a fist. No, don't... You're getting too close. Keep your distan-- I can't. He tensed up, shutting his eyes tight. "I-- Why are you being so nice to me? I've done nothing to earn your praise.. I'm nothing but trouble."
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
Just as I thought.
His response to her hand was predictable. Kisumi told her about this too. His fear of letting people in. This was going to be harder than she thought, and she already had doubts. Just how much has this poor thing been through?
She was at a loss at this point. Damn, I was so close. This was no longer just for Kisumi. This became personal. No one with a voice like that can be as bad as he claims. It's impossible. That song,... it was from the heart. She knew it. She felt it. If only she could make him see....
Mom, what do I do? I feel so bad for him. I can't give up yet. Surely, you see it, too. Something different. Mom, give me a song.... Please....
...
...
Yes, that will do.
Her head hung down, her bangs covering her eyes. She reached into her bag and revealed her harp, the signiture of a true Bard. Crossing her legs, she lifted her harp to her side, resting the bottom on her higher leg. Lifting her head, she met Takeshi's fearful eyes once more, before closing them again. She began to play. >>
~Now you all know
The bards sang their songs
When hours have gone by
I'll close my eyes
In a world far away
We may meet again
But now hear my song
About the dawn of the night
Let's sing the bard's song
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
The fear of today
It will be gone
Due to our magic songs
There's only one song
Left in my mind
Tales of a brave man
Who lived far from here
Now the bard songs are over
And it's time to leave
No one should ask you for the name
Of the one
Who tells the story
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bard's songs will remain
Tomorrow all will be known
And you're not alone
So don't be afraid
In the dark and cold
'Cause the bard's songs will remain
They all will remain
In my thoughts and in my dreams
They're always in my mind
These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men
And elves
Come close your eyes
You can see them, too~
The strings of her harp rang out with white and red waves as she played, dissolving into shimmering mist all around her. Finished, she lowered her harp and opened her eyes to see Takeshi, wearing the same sisterly smile. A single tear formed from her left, violet eye. Dammit, that always happens. Her mother would always sing that to her when she felt lost and alone. Somehow, she knew he needed it, too.
Kian - 12/06/2016
A gentle blink was made as she was quiet. She seemed to think, and, he wasn't sure what to do. Instead of words, she played a song, letting her voice carry the emotions she could not portray. It was... just like he'd do. Song carried much better than speech. And there was a long moment where he was silent, listening. His emotions were hidden under a mask, and when she finished, he noticed hers. There was suddenly a sense of.. nothingness, as he looked at her. In those eyes, there was pain and emptiness. Confusion, and wonder. Marvel, and discontent. Barely, a red mist swirled in his hand. He quickly let that hand move to pull his bangs back, as he dispersed the creeping darkness. It threatened him again... Protection, it whispered. But I don't need it. That quickly got rid of it as he looked to A'vette and huffed.
"... I will be sure to remember that song, miss A'vette... It was inspiring. You sung well." He then glanced aside, honey orbs looking conflicted. ".. Maybe some day, we can sit down and write something together..."
A'vette Rayoh - 12/06/2016
A'vette closed her eyes, wiping away her tears. I've done all I can. For now, at least. A'vette's warm, sisterly smile never waivered. The look in his eyes said it all. He wanted to trust her, badly, but couldn't. She had made some sort of dent in his armor. All she needed was time. Time, and patience.
"Thank you, Takeshi. That means a lot coming from you." Her voice cracked slightly mid-sentence. She didn't care. She wanted him to hear it. Her sincerity. Her passion. "I would love to write with you. Perhaps I'll learn a bit of Doman in the meantime." She finished her drink and replaced her harp in her bag. Her gaze fell to her red hat, the large feather flowing in the wind from the entrance behind. Placing it on her head, she rose from her barstool. "Until we meet again, kitten. Take care."
Kian - 12/06/2016
Leaving so soon? He huffed lightly and nodded. ".. You're welcome." He watched her take her hat, and, softly whined. He couldn't hold her up, but part of him wanted the company for a bit longer. And she said SHE Needed company... Hmph. His sorrow turned to frustration and anger as he crossed his arms, shaking his face as she was leaving. "Be safe, Miss A'vette..." He looked aside, to Baderon, who.. FUCK. WAS HE WATCHING THE WHOLE TIME? Takeshi turned bright red as he jumped back, whimpering. "I-It's not-- DON'T. SAY ANYTHING." Baderon simply laughed and waved him off without a word, moving on to the other end of the bar. Now even more frustrated, the Kitten went back to the sink and went about his daily duties. I really hope she does come back...
