The land bent and ached with energy as crystallized aether continued to rend it asunder. In the sky above, The Gloom shut out the sun in murky hues of swirling violet. It was in this unclaimed land that Mor Dhona flourished through the coin and efforts of merchants and adventurers alike, including the esteemed Rowena. Yet beyond the iron gates that protected the settlement from the Garlean Castrum which lay to the west, an even more imposing structure loomed over the landscape from the east. The Crystal Tower which pierced the sky, intimidating in its grave silence as it dutifully guarded the agendas of Allag.
At the foot of the tower, in what could have been an endless abyss, Mor Dhona bore up one such agenda. Since the land received of this secret from Allag, it had been reshaped relentlessly by so many a calamity and era past that the ancient technology was finally raised within sight of those who dared to look. Encased in crystal by none other than the Keeper of the Lake himself in his rage during the Calamity that the people of this age knew, the surface of the chamber was opaque, and the mechanisms no longer illuminated as the land and crystal wore on it era after era. But it was inside that it continued to function as its creators had intend. The being within safely kept in eternal sleep until the time to serve her empire dawned.

So little remained... And yet, more and more was being uncovered, relics and locations of an era by-gone and nearly forgotten... The Empire whose secrets still lay asleep, hidden beneath the very ground these new people, 'Eorzean', had come to claim. It did not matter to this particular soul, an outlandish man of unknown origins, bearing gear of the ancient civilization that Eorzeans had little knowledge of, his face covered by an intricate mask, hiding away ruby hues that could pierce, and would give away his own secrets.
A whisper reached him today, of a place that had supposedly been uncovered, but was left untouched... Whoever had found it didn't bother it, likely figuring it would bode ill. Instead of dismissing such a rumor, he found himself drawn, and had begun his way to its location. Something.. tugged, he knew he had to go... As he reached the barely unearthed door, he rest his palm against the cold intricate metal, brushing away dirt and grime from what was likely a scanner or camera... something to see the outside, definitely. Nearby, he found a small backbone of metal, and as he approached, it flickered erratically before sputtering out. The land had ruined the mechanisms... A shame. He'd have to go about this the old way. Without hesitation, he approached the wall, swiftly removing his glove and bit his thumb until crimson trickled from the wound. Placing it upon the wall, beneath the camera, it flashed red, before a chirping sound was made and it turned green. Success! He stepped back as structures and gears behind the door roared, and it slowly crawled open... "All right... What did you keep here? What secrets will I find?" Just as he finished, he heard another series of chirps and beeps, and noticed a small orb whirled around him, lighting up in a series of flashes. ".. Eh?" The node stopped at his feet and shot out a series of spikes. He stepped back, before glaring.
"We're sorry, but you are about to enter a classified research facility. For clearance verification, please provide your Identification Code."
There was a small pause, before the male huffed, throwing a hand up. "0915738; Name, Alexios Markos." The node chirped back and spun in place.
"Thank you! Please wait while we verify your identity and credentials." Then, it played some gentle music... Alexios found himself unamused, crossing his arms and tapping a foot while he watched it, still eying the spikes. It was a Guardian Node, for sure. There was something inside he wasn't supposed to see... After a moment, it stopped, and the spikes retreated. It then spun in place.
"Override successful! Please, follow me, Guardian Markos. The Empire thanks you for your efforts!" "... Thank you." He nodded, and followed as the Node began to lead him in. Though, as they continued, he noted how the modules weren't lit up... A shame... "... What was this place's purpose?" The node heard this question and chirped. "Guardian Markos, We apologize, but we cannot provide all details due to your clearance. This location was intended as a Holding chamber for research project #15#FO--T--EEEEIIIII---- . . . We're sorry, this node has been exposed to the elements for an undetermined amount of time. Some memory has been damaged. No further information can be provided." "... Thank you." Huh... He was frankly surprised it still functioned at all after so many years... But now, they came upon the chamber in question.. Something magnificent, a being encased... Alexios found himself drawn, exasperated, as he stepped forward, looking it, them, over. "... Node, Initiate Statis Reversal." He felt there was a purpose, he.. had to have them. Why, he wasn't sure, but... He wanted them, had to wake them, help them... "We're sorry, Guardian Markos, you do not have the pro--"
"Override! Allag has been dead for Millenia! I am the last living Allagan! I demand Full Clearance!"
The node stopped, before approaching him. ". . . This node has been waiting for retrieval for-- UNDEFINED-- years. No response from the Empire has been recieved. We're sorry, we cannot--"
An angry hiss slipped from his lungs, as he turned to the node and outright kicked it across the room.
"I AM THE LAST ALLAGAN!!! I DON'T CARE WHAT MY CLEARANCE IS!!!"
And with that, he set upon the chamber that kept the being asleep, and begun to rip cords and wires out with brutal strength, disabling the systems that kept the being inside asleep. Without it, they would be woken up, and perhaps have a will of their own... No longer controlled by the conduits of the Allag. Noting the Guardian's efforts, the Node made a series of beeps and chirps.
"Override granted, Please wait a moment..."

The stasis chamber hissed and groaned as it protested the loss of its supporting cables, it shivered before going silent once more. The years it had spent before the Guardian Node reached it in a search and secure mission had damaged it severely. Yet, not so that the chamber could no longer support the being it held, thus the node set itself to work building the chamber to keep out the land and maintain its precious charge until the Empire returned to retrieve them both. The node chirped, rotating and blinking at the other mechanisms it had built in the small room.
[Auditory disturbance detected. Active mode: Hostile.]
"Status reversal initiating. . . Target state: Reanimation" The node glowed green briefly as it communicated with the mechanisms.
Then the machine jolted back to life and its inner shells spun methodically around the being within, the opaque veil faded away from the glass revealing the woman it contained. All around, cables and machines fell dark as the chamber's pedestal glowed.
[No Threat Found. Reanimation Detected. Active mode: Passive.]
The node approached the chamber, spinning idly.
"Research Project #--BZZEEEP-T-. . . Title: Mechanical Engagement and Combat Hostilities Autonomous Assistant,. . . BZEEEEET Yoko. The Empire thanks you for your service." The node bobbed in place as the chamber slid open with a harsh whir, leaving the figure within to stand on her own and leave on her own.
She was dressed plainly in the dark under-armor granted to guardians and bore no weapon. Standing in the chamber, her eyes opened slowly revealing vermilion eyes and glowing aesthetically pleasing limbal rings. Her face was adorned by scales and two dark horns while a reptilian tail moved behind her smoothly. Built in the image of the au ra, were it not for the overly explicit title, she looked the perfect image of a natural being.
Stepping down from the chamber, Yoko fell on one knee before the man who awakened her. "Ready for Service. Awaiting orders." She spoke in the Allagan tongue, tone passive and neutral in submission. For her, no time had passed since the day she entered stasis.

To be honest, he didn't think it would comply. He found himself in shock as things began to change and release, he had to take a step back, watching with curiousity. This.. was all he ever knew beyond the tower, creation, waking, walking, commanded, guarding, protecting... This new freedom of his was still so hard to grasp. Their codename was given, and Alexios had to run it past himself a couple times, to be sure he remembered. Though as she was fully let go, and fell upon her knee, he found a knot in his stomach. She.. spoke his language, thank goodness, but she was.. waiting for commands, something he felt he wasn't... qualified, for, anymore. He bit the inside of his cheek while he contemplated what to do...
"... Yoko. At ease... Allow me to introduce myself. I am Guardian Alexios Markos. I.. I don't know how to tell you this, Yoko."
He found himself struggling to find words, brows furrowing as he turned his face to the left. His expression contorted despite his efforts to remain calm. How... could he say this? Should he? Would she understand? He looked back to her, and opened his mouth to speak, but then stopped himself, turned his gaze eastward a couple seconds before shutting them with dismay.
"You.. will have to forgive me, for the delay in explanation... I am having a difficult time trying to piece things together, too. . . . I should likely start by saying that, Allag is gone. Has.. been gone a long time, thousands of years... Five, thousand, years.... Gone. Not much remains of our empire... Not even the clones that guarded the Crystal Tower. That too has been raided. The Emperor, Xande... Defeated.... A dark, nasty plot, was thwarted... The two clones that remained, Unei and Doga, are gone. All of their clones are dead, too. A Miqo'te with royal blood sealed himself within the tower to prevent people from going back, and put the tower back to sleep. Therefore.. I, am the only one left..."
That was a hard truth to speak, let alone accept. He still had trouble with it, and yet, he was out here doing what he knew best, protecting what little remained of Allag, and unearthing its secrets, making right the wrongs. While he pondered a moment longer, he eventually rose his right hand to remove his mask, and expose himself to her, so she could see his face.
"... Would you like to see, how things have changed? Let me take you for a walk..."

[Orders accepted: At Ease]
Yoko's gaze remained downcast as she listened to what this Guardian had to say. Though he allowed her to be at ease, she could not yet fathom why a mere servant would be told to do such a thing but she stood slowly, directing her eyes to the masked face before her. Her expression remained eerily steady despite her response. Her tone was the same as before, yet now it held a hostile undertone.
"That is impossible, Guardian Alexios Markos. The Empire of Allag is at the height of its seat in power and only continues to grow in its strength. You will be suffered as a traitor for your remarks against the Empire." She declared, following the ancient protocol written into her.
[Arms status check: Unarmed]
Then the Guardian was removing his mask and revealing his identity to her. She could identify him as a clone, one who had been assigned to the Crystal Tower. Yoko studied the clone's face, committing it to memory. The first in a long time. She could not recall anything beyond her purpose, not Unei, not Doga. Even the Crystal Tower was a vague sense of familiarity without a form in her memories.
It did not seem illogical to follow the man and she stood down, placated for now. She would hear the man's folly out. Yoko nodded, approaching Alexios in a quiet acceptance of his offer to venture out of the chamber.

Ah, so they would follow.. Good, he had been worried for a moment... Despite how his heart raced with anxiety, he turned his back to her and made for the doorway. The node chirped and whirled to speed up and follow them, to which Alexios looked down and smiled. "Come along, then! I shall name you, Paladin. Pal for short! Eer, P-A-L.
It paused, before chirping a long tune.
"Node reidentification request accepted! This node is now known as Paladin-2985, Codename P-A-L, Pronounced PAHL. Is Guardian Markos happy with this change?"
The poor man couldn't help but seemed like he was in utter shock, as he stopped and glanced the node over. "... Wha-oh. Ye-Yes! Good job, Pal!" His confusion turned to a bright smile, as he then looked to Yoko. "Heh, I guess it's chosen to follow us..." Now back into the sunlight, Alexios took a moment to put his mask back on, before looking to Yoko. "... Look beyond us, far out, there's a faint blue glow, right? A crystal like structure? That's Revenant's Toll, a settlement made by the people who now occupy this land. They call this land the continent of Eorzea. It was founded by people who were defending this land from another Empire, the Garleans, who.. are notorious, to say the least. They've been trying to conquer this continent for years now, at least five, twenty if you consider the land of Gyr Albania too, that I last recall being told. Revenant's Toll is a safe place to stay, don't worry. They don't question where you come from, or your purpose, as long as you're not up to any trouble and help them in some manner. Do your part and they'll be glad to help."
Now that they were outdoors, PAL spun in place before rushing to dart about, analyzing the soil. Alexios saw this and blinked. "... What are you doing, PAL?"
"PAL is searching for data! PAL wants to prove GUARDIAN is not a traitor. PAL has been waiting for YOKO for--- UNDETERMINED-- years!"
Alexios couldn't help but bite his lip. Even the Node was trying to prove the point... "I-- PAL..." The node stopped scanning a rock, and turned his way. "... GUARDIAN Markos?" It seemed like it was confused, unsure if it should terminate its process, or keep going... ".. N-No, go ahead. Thank you..." PAL beeped and chirped, scanning the rock again. Alexios turned his gaze to Yoko and seemed Apologetic. "... I am no traitor, I promise... I have so much pride in our Empire, if anything remained, I.. would have given my life to protect it. But I failed my purpose... I did not wake until the Tower was quiet. I did not wake to defend it..."
At that time, PAL booped loudly and bounced. "GUARDIAN! PAL has completed analysis! This rock is approximately 5,000 years old! An Exact date is not determinable considering the weathering of its elements... But this Analysis proves the GUARDIAN's proposal! PAL has been waiting the same amount of time, PAL has watched this rock weather away for a very long time... It has been here unmoved since PAL arrived."
Alexios sighed at that, and removed his mask again, using his left hand to rub his eyes. Were those... tears? Was he crying? He sniffed a couple times before exhaling harshly. "... It's so hard, even now... After I've spent a few months awake... I still.. can't phathom, how much time has passed... It feels like I went to sleep just a couple months ago, and.. there was nothing in between..." He stopped there, and kept his gaze towards the ground. "... I know what my purpose is now... To continue preserving and restoring Allag's last relics, and... to protect you, YOKO... To make sure you live and thrive..."

Nothing could have prepared Yoko for the sight she was greeted with as she emerged from the precarious shelter build by the node--PAL. The land itself looked nothing like what she had known. All around, she could see the broken remains of primitive ships embedded in the ground. She looked at what Alexios had called Revenant's Toll, an encampment fashioned around an Aetheryte for the continent's new masters. Eorzeans.
And their adversaries, the Garleans.
[Safe Point: Revenant's Toll - Logged]
Yoko glanced down at PAL as it fervently continued to scan the rocks around them. She didn't need to hear the blue node's conclusions, she could well see for herself that much and more had changed. In realization of the vague shape of the landscape, she whirled around staring at the Crystal Tower. "The Crystal Tower." She identified and understood that this is where Alexios was meant to defend.
Slowly, memories of Allag began to return to her after being nearly lost in her time sleeping. She could remember the purpose of the Tower and all who defended it. Unei and Doga, the royalty of Allag who cloned themselves in the interest of protecting their Beacon of Hope.
As she sifted through her slowly recovering her memories of Allag, Yoko listened to Alexios's plight quietly. Had she failed in her purpose as well? If Allag had fallen and the final heir had sealed himself within the Crystal Tower, was there no one left for her to assist?
PAL's joyous beeping called her attention as it proudly announced its findings, clearing Alexios from suspicion and the title of Traitor. 5000 years had come and go and the great Allagan Empire with them, giving way to a new era of a peoples known as the Eorzeans.
Beside her, she could hear sniffling, an indication that one could be upset or ill. She turned her attention to Alexios once more, blinking as the man wept in front of her. His words began to instill a sense of urgency into her but for what reason she could yet understand. Allag had plenty of machina, but what of her? She was neither built in the image of the Empires most typical mechanical guardians nor was she a clone yet Yoko possessed an innate artificial intelligence that allowed her to ponder and reason. What had happened to the Empire in the time she was suspended? Who had caused the descent of Allag?
"You say you have found a renewed purpose, Guardian, yet without the hand of Allag can you..can we be truly given such?" Yoko surprised herself with such vague terminologies. How advanced was she? "I am a combative assistant, I do not assume the role of the protected."

Such a silly question... She must not understand humanity. ".. It is not my intent to insult you, YOKO. But even the Protectors sometimes need help. Let me put it this way, then... I'd like you to travel with me, see the world... Let's see if we can find anything left of Allag." He paused, before watching PAL again, as they were probing another rock. "... YOKO, to answer your question... We do not need to be taking commands to have purpose in our lives. We control our own destiny, we forge our own paths, make our own memories... My blood may be of an era far gone, but I still breathe and my heart still beats. So long as I am alive and can think on my own, I can choose what I do. And so can you. There is no one to command you anymore... Only me, and I won't be the one to command you.. I am not deserving, I would not treat you like a slave or a soldier.."
PAL suddenly vaccumed up a rock, before shooting it in one direction, high up. A yelp in the distance was heard and a hippogryph came tumbling down, collapsing from concussion. Alexios simply looked at the poor thing in awe, before looking to PAL. ".. Uh..."
"It was watching us." All he could do was shrug at PAL. Reasonable enough but.. Really, did it deserve that? "Okay then..." He then returned his gaze to YOKO and smiled. "... As I was meaning to say... You obviously can question my existence, therefore, you can ponder yours... If you can do that, you are sentient. You understand Life and Death. You know what it means in essence, a beating heart and a working mind means you are alive, when both fail, there is death. But being 'alive' is so much more than that. Heed my words... When we walk into Revenant's Toll, you are my friend. They will know no different. You are no machine to them, they won't know if you don't say so... You look absolutely human, and I would rather people treat you that way. Learn to think for yourself, YOKO. Make your own choices. You will learn right from wrong, and I will be here to help you, but now, you have to survive in a whole new world.. Let me be your guide, and your ally..."

Once more Yoko surprised herself, doing something so illogical that she struggled to grasp why she would do such a thing. Raising a hand over her left breast, she closed her eyes as she felt nothing move under her hand. Of course it wouldn't. She did not have the same biological structures as the people who brought her into being. But how was she created? Why did Alexios say they were alive? With the spotty recovery of parts of her memory she couldn't recall anything about herself except for the moment she stepped into the chamber. The last person she saw as she closed her eyes and the doors slid closed around her.
"Guardian Alexios Markos..." She addressed as her hand remained over where heart may have been. "I...am not like you. I have neither a heart which beats nor does air fill me when I breathe." She paused, letting her hand drop as it felt pointless to feel any longer for any sort of indication of physical signs of life. "...But if it is as you say, that I am sentient and therefore "alive", then I will...choose...to follow you to this place and travel with you in search of what befell the Empire." Choice. The word invoked many other memories but none could answer her questions. She looked back at the Crystal Tower, hoping more memories would resurface but no more returned to her. But she could assume that the more she interacted with Allag once more, the more she would remember.
He had mentioned something about concealing the fact she was a machine. It seemed strange that the World after Allag did not benefit from any of its advances. "Does this era not have constructs such as ourselves?" Yoko asked, watching PAL zip around. She didn't blame the node for attacking the hippogryph, had she a weapon, she would have done the same. She sensed a bit of ingenuity in the node as it continued to pick apart the cliffside for rocks satisfactory to its criteria.
A flash of gold tinted her memory, vague and relatively shapeless. But she somehow knew it belonged to her. Her staff.

It didn't matter to him whether she was machine or human. He'd treat her with the same respect and dignity. He listened, and watched as she seemed to think momentarily, and, as she responded, he couldn't help but smile. She used the word choose, it made him happy for an unknown reason.. "Wonderful! I'm sure there is still much for us to uncover. It'll be much easier to work as a team, too." Though, now she arose a new question, and he tried to think, biting his lip. "... No, Eorzeans do not have clones or machines. They are far less technological. To be honest, I find them quite primal in nature, but they have such bright, bold spirits... I cannot help but be inspired." They were watching PAL, and he looked its way too, curious as to what it was searching for now. Did PAL want more data? or was this some quirk? He managed a shrug before looking to Yoko. She seemed distant... "... Yoko..?" The guardian's tone had meant to be concerned, but it came weak, and before he could register it, he felt as though his consciousness snapped, sleep tugging at him feverantly. He knew this feeling... Exhaustion and drowsiness could be clearly seen as he collapsed to his knees, barely shaking his face to try and wake up. "..no.. not.. now,-- please..." He had not anticipated that he'd break so soon.. Noting the GUARDIAN's distress, PAL hurried over to them and bounced in place, unsure of what to do. No official diagosis was made, so it did not have protocol to follow... "GUARDIAN Markos? Can PAL help?" Alexios simply scowled, though he found himself swaying as he tried to swat the node away.. He couldn't keep himself steady, he was about to black out, his breathing wasn't straight, exasperated huffs broke through his sore and tired body, a hand rising to grasp his right ribcage. He finally was revealing some sort of pain, that he'd hid from her.. from everyone, no one at the Toll knew of what might be an injury.

Shaken from her reverie by the sound of Alexios hitting the stone, Yoko extended a hand to grasp the one swatting at PAL, gently pushing the node to a more suitable location out of her way. The node chirped indignantly as it floated to the other side of her, examining the situation. He seemed distressed, and Yoko wondered if it was due to the duress he had been under in the wake of his findings.
[Target: Medical Attention Necessary]
"You are injured." Yoko observed, plainly stating the obvious as she scanned over the injured man. She adjusted her stance to provide Alexios with stability, slipping under his arm and supporting him regardless of whether or not consent was given. "And just how did you expect to uncover Allag in this condition? You require recondi-..." No, there was no Allag left to mend the injuries of clones and prepare them once more for service. She looked towards the blue glimmer of the aetheryte pensively. "Do Eorzeans possess knowledge of healing?" While the new masters of the land were primitive, the scraps of metal seemed to indicate that there may have been certain advances made.
Feeling the man sag against her, clearly at the end of his tether, she began to walk towards the Toll, careful not to allow too much jostling to inflict further pain. Having just heard such uplifting praise about the Eorzeans, Yoko was eager to see just how these primitive beings had succeeded the Empire.

"You don't say..." Sarcasm was his first reaction to her obvious statement. Though he didn't anticipate that Yoko would slip him into her support, and once she had him on his feet, and began to scold him, he growled lightly, his face fell as he shook his face. "Hmph..." But she stopped herself. Did she realize the error she made? Seemed that way, with how she stopped and wondered, before asking another question. A good one, at that, something he'd only recently learned himself. "...hhhn.. to some extent... they rely on magic by far, White Magic... 'tis rare to see traditional healing..." Unfortunately, his strength was dwindling fast, and he couldn't keep himself up on his feet, so instead, he tried to lean against YOKO, relying on her help as he exhaled harshly. He hadn't meant for this... He hadn't meant to burden anyone if he'd found anyone at all... Yet, the overwhelming joy and wonder that washed over him before had withered, and the efforts he made to free YOKO from her chamber had stolen the last of his strength. It made it very difficult to stay awake, despite his best efforts. All he could manage was to weakly hold his ribcage, as he watched their feet meet the ground. Within a moment, he noted how they walked in sync, and for some reason, it interested him.. it made him feel a way he didn't recognize.
-------- Thankfully, the Toll wasn't too far off, and they got there barely in time. When one of the guardsmen of the gate noticed YOKO with Alexios in tow, they seemed to recognize the masked man, and lurched forward. "Ah, you've returned him to us, bless you.." They gave Alexios a quick glance over before motioning YOKO to follow. "Come on, I'll show you to the inn." Though by now, Alexios was losing his battle, he was losing the ability to even lean on her, becoming limp, the grip on his coat released and just that quick, within seconds, he lost consciousness and would have dropped, were it not for Yoko's support. The disorderly adventurer looked over their shoulder and grimaced.
"Seems like 'e's in bad shape... Ai'll tell ya' what, he's an odd fellow, but he's done a great deal for the Toll. Guarded, kept it safe, helped build it up the past few months. Damn shame he left this morning without a word and came back like this... Methinks he ain't sleepin' well, given the way some inn-goers said the outlandish fellow would wake up screamin' and crying.." The adventurer shrugged, before opening a door and lead her through. Into one hall, he opened the second door on the left and ushered Yoko to enter and set him down.
"Ima go get a healer for 'im, you sit and get comfy. Maybe you could read one'ov his books while you wait?"

As they reached the Toll, Yoko stopped in alarm as a man clad in slightly unkempt armor stepped forward, speaking a strange language she had never heard before. This must be the language of the Eorzean people.
[Linguistics analysis initiated]
Sweeping her gaze down the guard as he spoke to them, she felt Alexios fall limp against her, no longer able to support himself. Yoko adjusted her grip, shifting Alexios into a position more suited towards being dragged. Unfortunately, Alexios was a significant amount taller than her, causing his feet to continue to brush the cobblestone beneath them.
The guardsman motioned for her to follow before speaking for a prolonged amount. Figuring what the man was saying could prove important, she committed what he was saying to memory for later recall after she understood what the man was saying. She could make vague guesses from his posture and tone, assuming he was friendly. Alexios seemed to trust the people of this new age.
Entering the room the guard bid her into, Yoko examined the room for any immediate threats. Seeing none, she carefully placed the injured Alexios on the bed, ensuring that no extra weight on his injuries would cause extra pain.
[Linguistics Analysis Complete. New entry: Eorzean Common Tongue. All previous entries have been translated.]
"--...while you wait." The guard mentioned calling for a healer and left the room, leaving Yoko to watch over Alexios.
"Wha?! What is that?? Is it magitek?" A commotion outside drew her attention as gasps and cries of shock could be heard.
A series of beeps followed, "....Do not be alarmed CITIZENS! This node is identified as PALADIN! Greetings!"
Oh, she had not considered the fact that Eorzeans may be unfamiliar with the wonders of Allagan technology. Stepping back out into the hall, she called for the node as it floated towards her. "PAL." Her recognition of the node seemed to calm the nerves of the people around but Yoko sensed that they remained unsure of the orb.
PAL spun enthusiastically, whirring softly, "PAL has found seven suitable rocks!" Yoko nodded her approval, though she questioned whether or not stone projectiles needed to be of a specific quality.
Observing that PAL had also been able to switch into the Eorzean language, Yoko opted to continue using it rather than switching back and forth. "The man has sent for a healer," a user of white magic, she assumed from what Alexios said before passing out. "We have been instructed to await this person."

Sure enough, as they had said, a man stepped into the doorway. They wouldn't strike as a healer right away, but the air they carried just about gave it away, as they seemed somewhat cautious and timid, a one-handed conjurer's wand on his hip underneath a white jacket. The young man looked to the floor, seeing the node, and smiled barely.
"Quite the commotion you caused, Paladin... Heh, it's been a good long time since we had any Allagan artifacts come through the Toll. Plus a working node, at that? Sent everyone reeling in fright."
He then glanced to Yoko and smiled warmly. "My name is Alwin Stone." They now came to kneel at the bedside and seemed pensive when they noted the mask that the unconscious man wore. Their clothes... Typical of those who had raided the Coil of Bahamut, but.. even those were far and few between. Only the people who survived their encounters wore Allagan-era armor and this... This was new, a set he'd not seen before... Well, minus the mask. He'd seen it a couple times, But every time, he felt overwhelmed by power, wanted to stay away from those donning it... This man felt the same way, but, somehow, he felt... safe, like they weren't to be feared, instead, should be supported, a person of great importance...
"Hm.. His clothes are something we've not see before... Intriguing.. Never the less, what happened? What do you know?"
For the time being, Alwin began to work off their coat, revealing heavy armor underneath that he tried to find the restraints to... but there wasn't any luck. He found himself biting his lip nervously as he glanced up to Yoko. "Erm.. c-could you, help me? I don't know how to undo his armor..."

As they waited, Yoko explored the room, examining and scanning each and every item. Some were familiar, and others...less so. The adventurer, as it seemed those without employment were called, had mentioned that Alexios had books. Tomes that lay dormant and without much intrigue until she lifted it and opened the front cover. Immediately, she could recognize the writing inside, the written language of Allag. However, before she could glean any information from Alexios's time in Eorzea, a man dressed entirely in white entered the room, drawing the attention of both machines.
PAL, who had been examining a piece of clay pottery, chirped in recognition of the new entity as it spun to face the healer. "Fear not! PAL is a GUARDIAN node! CITIZENS should always feel safe if PAL is here. PAL guarded Yoko for -#%DNE&#- years and Yoko is safe!" The node paced in a circle around Yoko once as if to show the conjurer its meaning.
Yoko nodded in a greeting, "Well met, Ser Alwin." It was odd that the iconic armor of Allag's Guardians had been long forgotten, something so impactful, so prestigious to the commonfolk at the time, reduced to mere novelty. Seeing no reason to not answer Alwin's inquiry, she stepped forward to stand behind him, looking down upon Alexios. "He has indicated severe pain to his thoracic cage. However, no sooner did he show such signs did he weaken and faint upon our arrival." She reported, looking on as the healer struggled with Alexios's armor.
Meeting Alwin's gaze, she sensed that he held some sort of trepidation if his timid posture and tone of voice were to serve as any further indication. Of course, she reasoned, the presence of Allag still struck fear into the hearts of those outside the Empire. Who would not feel the same in the face of a nearly all-encompassing force. She blinked, something that appeared on a randomly timed mechanism, crimson hued irises disappearing and reappearing as she did so. Of course, her model was crafted to be aesthetically pleasing to cater to the tastes of those she would have protected and assisted. "I will teach you, Ser Alwin." Yoko bent at the waist, leaning down and carefully pushing the conjurer's hands away. "There are a total of eight clasps, four are for the metal armor..." she gestured to each one, undoing them as she removed the outer armor and placing them off to the side on a small table. Her hands moved to the jacket underneath."...and four for the cloth." With that, the majority of Alexios's armor came undone save for a few intuitive straps and buckles.
